Mouse Slip - how to react?

I had already some mouse slips and there are only 2 possibilities for me:
1.) If my position is lost now: I resign.
2.) If it´s still playable: I play
And therefore I don´t accept questions for a draw if my opponent has a mouse slip. Like somebody already said: It´s not a game of second chances.

About 20% of my mouseslips are improvements on what I intended to play anyway.
lmaooo

That high?
Once I mouse slipped a pawn sac (clearing a square for a knight to go there eventually) that would have made a great positional puzzle in an Aagaard book. Both my opponent and I had been moving quickly, but after my "brilliant" mouse slip, he paused for a long time lol.
About 0% chance I would have legitimately seen the move in the blitz game, but yeah, best move in the position and I didn't even mean to make it.

Once in a time scramble (both less than 10 seconds) I mouse slipped one of those cheeky rook takes defended pawn moves... and since neither of us were expecting it, it actually worked and it's the only reason I won that game lol.
I’m getting the feeling that everyone is on the same page with this topic. It’s refreshing!
That's not entirely true. Both @52yrral and the bunny have been all about supporting the mouse.

Lol ok well I’m partly joking obviously, but yeah it’s probably like 75% outright losing and resign instantly, you get some that aren’t really what you want but the opponent probably doesn’t realise it’s a slip, and a very small % that are genuinely inspired ‘ideas’ like in your example. And it’s true, sometimes they can be an unintended ‘dirty move’ in a mad time scramble that works out well.

If something actually looks like a mouse slip, not just a random blunder then I let it pass, most wont

Doesn't anyone just take responsibility for their own mistakes nowadays?! A mouse slip isn't RNG, it's a human error caused by not being careful enough. No different to making a bad move because you weren't careful enough considering the position!

I´m with you! But don´t say "Doesn't anyone just take responsibility for their own mistakes nowadays?!" Because I did! Have a look at "73"

My question to the greater chess community is, what is the proper etiquette if your opponent has a "mouse slip". I recently played a game where my opponent made a bad move and claimed he had a mouse slip. I would have let it pass but he accused me of taking advantage of him. I considered his behavior petty and ungentlemanly but it begged a bigger question. What is the proper thing to do? There must be a rule in regular chess if a player drops his piece, etc.

if you can see that the move played is complete plonk and your opponent says “mouselip” before your reply, it shouldn’t be too difficult to know if it was a slip. but at your rating level, eggman, it might not be so easy.

Dude hasn't been online for 9 years and you've only played 3 games.

i feel like such a fool now. i might just go kill myself to make you happy
Maybe partly it's because when I play, it's usually for a few hours. I almost never just play 1 or 2 games... it's more like 20+ So to me losing a single game is not very important, and I guess I assume it's not so important for them either.
