Dang, I'm wracking my brain try to figure out what the word might be. Could you give me a hint without getting too close to the line? lol
muted for typing an author's name
Oh, I might know what it is. Merriam-Webster to the rescue...
One step ahead of you.

First word is bobble. Notice the italics. Was it bobble?
could just be this bird
or should we regress to our kindergarten days?
we need to protect kids from the first things they might have seen as babies.

Good grief!
Philip K. Dick (1928-1982) was a well-known author of speculative sci-fi. In the chat section of a game with a former student of mine, I made a reference to him and got some automatic warning. Is there some way to revoke this misguided auto-penalty?
If you get a warning, repeated uses over a short time will eventually mute you. The filter is not something that is context sensitive, so unfortunately can catch some innocent text in the process.
That filter should be just turned off then, obviously.
You think that the 1 legitimate use should outweigh the 99,999 abusive uses?
Who cares if a couple inmates on death row are innocent here and there for the 95% that are guilty right?
I don't really like this way of thinking.
Seems that the system should just be updated to be able to decipher between context better than what it does currently. I think we can all agree it should be improved.
Moderating a somewhat common last name is eyebrow raising anyway.

People aren't sentenced to death when the auto filter activates. Their accounts aren't even closed: their content is hidden for a time.
Chess.com approaches fair play violations in a much more conservative fashion and more like the example you've cited - because Chess.com understands that the consequences of closing an account for fair play violations is much greater than getting a mute for a while.

It is also a common first name as well. It is short for Richard, like Bob is short for Robert.

I've just been muted for a few hours due to the use of a perfectly innocent ENGLISH word that means "blunder". It didn't occur to me that there was a problem.
It occurs to me that Chess.com is abusive and possibly racist. Also, the promise that such problems will be sorted after an email to help and support seems to be a lie.
Remember this is a worldwide site. Something common and innocent in Britain may have a vulgar slang meaning in the USA or Australia or India. Chess.com computers seem to have a list of words that automatically trigger muting.
Well, if that is the case, the number two should be censored. In the United States, if you put up 2 fingers, middle and index, knuckles of the fingers facing the other person, it means the number two, like I want two donuts.
In some European countries (I want to say it was either Denmark or Germany that my professor was at in the mid-90s while on sebaticle), how you use those 2 fingers matters, and in neither case does it mean the number 2. If you point the knuckles of your fingers to yourself, fingerprint side to them, it means peace. If you point the knuckles in their direction, it means the same thing as the middle finger alone means in the United States!
So therefore, 2 or two should lead to chat bans on that logic!

Did I say "unmute" button? No, I did not say that. I said "unflag", like you got flagged, and know that with more flags you'll eventually get muted, so, you want the abusive flag to be removed from your name.
Chess forum moderating does not help poow bwain.
Still the same. The flag isn't something that can be removed and times out / resets after a while, automatically. However, if someone's word choices are such that they're getting flagged often enough that they fall under that time limit, even after the repeated warnings, then maybe just thinking through their content options

These people are a word we can't use, which is the opposite of clever. Shouldn't be sticking to the line so hard. Should be thinking.
They certainly didn't rescue me two nights ago when I was muted and it wasn't just for half an hour because I had no conception that the word I used would be offensive to these children, so I used it again, completely by mistake. I shouldn't even be saying "I used it by mistake" because the mistake is that of anyone who supports punishment for an innocent use of a word that means something different in English English. That's why it's racist and abusive and that's why all these people should be ashamed of themselves until they understand their mistake and rectify it.
Live chat mutes start at 30 minutes. Mutes from things like messages and forums are longer, usually a day but that can escalate depending on how often it happens (i.e. history of being flagged)
Also, when you're muted, sending a message to a moderator or staff isn't necessarily going to help, since the message won't show, because of the mute. I used to receive them on the app, in such cases, but don't know if that's still the case.
So, a support ticket is the best bet there.
Nothing goofy that happens around here should surprise us ( remember V3 lol ).

Nonsense. It's not the word itself that has any offensive connotation.
I believe the support is for an opinion and not the person. So even our cool out kid should be able to express his opinions or support of them. Still haven't got to the bottom of Martin breeding though.
Despotic you say? They should hire me as a consultant then.
At least according to @david.

And even the cool out kid who says he reported me in this locked topic.

Perhaps with such a glowing resume I should open a linkedin account.
