“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” - Proverbs 9:10

It is worth pointing out that the Hebrew word for “fear” in this context isn’t being scared for no reason. Some Bible versions translate this word as “reverence” because it’s more a healthy fear for the realization of who God is and the power they have.

@SonicFrontiersDude That being said, I wouldn’t phrase your thread the way you did for seeking out friends. Religious topics are also generally not allowed in the public forums. I’m not entirely sure your thread counts as a “religious topic” as much as a “seeking friends” topic (which just so happen to be friends believing in God). Christians should set a good example to others and this also includes following rules when they don’t conflict with God’s law.

Instead of a god fearing friend, why not settle for any friend? Why is god fearing so important? Do you think Jesus only settled for godly friends? Absolutely not. So I think you'd have more luck if you opened yourself up to any good people regardless of their beliefs.

I don't fear what doesn't exist. It seems illogical to do so.

Your own thoughts can make things exist, such as a reason to be afraid. Neither does it help too much to know that you've caused it to exist, if it actually exists now that you caused it. You have friends and people you look up to who don't understand these things enough to be giving people younger than them advice, The long and the short is that your thoughts never stand still and suppressing them stores up problems for the future. You can suppress it nearly all your life and remain intelligent but you are still causing yourself to fail to learn more than you should and could. Something to chew on?

No immediate judgements please! Best wishes.

You shouldn’t faer God in the sense of being afraid. To fear God is to see him as our Creator and as our Lord. And as one of the people said on this forum, the beginning of knowledge is the fear of God. And also someone else asked why God fearing friends are so important. Christians should have Christian friends to encourage, correct if you are speaking lies and false doctrines and to help.

someone else also said that we shouldn’t fear something that doesn’t exist. God DOES exists. You may not believe that, but whether you like it or not, he does and always will.
