New Chess Game Mode.

I don't really know where to start. But here goes.

I've been playing on Chess.com for over a year, and through the time i've had a bunch of ideas on how to improve chess. One of those ideas is a new Game Mode. It's basically like every other game mode here, the time will be the same, the positions will be the same, the only difference is that you're not allowed to Resign or Disconnect. That way you have to finish a game, and possibly have a chance to win even though you've lost your queen or any other important piece. 1 in every 100 games i play, the opponent actually finishes the game although he/she has lost everything. And those are honestly the best games i've played. I want to do that over and over again.

Pros:

Chess developers could develop this Game Mode and only release it to a paid Membership. That way Chess earns its revenue to pay for the servers/domain/and its staff.

It'll be fun and makes you push your limits to think the next move knowing you cannot resign.

Cons:

If you accidentally Disconnect or have an emergency. You could possibly be banned from playing this game mode. (The reasonable thing to do is to allow 3 disconnects, and 3 resigns, after that the following applies.)

Players could just allow the other opponent to win, meaning allowing the opponent to finish the game as fast as possible instead of resigning. Not receiving a challenge is quite boring and not fun at all.

If non-paid memberships are allowed to play this game mode they could just make a new account to have fun while they're winning, and using their 3 allowed Resign and Disconnects when they're about to lose. (Perhaps this could be avoided with IP ban on following Game Mode.)

If you think this could be a fantastic thing to have in Chess, but with a little changes, don't be afraid to comment what could be changed. happy.png

Thank you for reading. ~Almar.

I think the idea would not be very popular except with beginners. I remember playing down to king versus king when I was your age.
