Sorry, not sure if this is a new bug or what, but may I ask what is going on in these two team matches?

I'm sure there are more but these are the only 2 I've noticed.

Redvii

Well, my Vote Chess games are back - all better now.

dsarkar

Thanks, Erik and everyone of the staff.

Most of the bugs have been fixed.

The diagram postings also look very beautiful!

You are doing a great job!

TheGrobe

Yes -- I like the diagram posts better too.

Mahalo for 960 and all the updates! Keep them coming!

Kacparov

Chess Empire has lost 5 games (most of them in won positions) by timeout because nobody got the alerts. That's really unfair. I think that groups should get some kind of compensation for that.

Kacparov

Or was it just our group who lost many games?

Kacparov

Why doesn't anyone answer? Is everyone happy about Chess Empire's loses?

Well, some people are, but you need to adjust your alert settings so you get the alerts. You probably had the alerts turned off on those 5 games.

TheGrobe

What kind of compensation did you have in mind?

You only get £5000 for coming first in the British Championship & that's after paying the £200 entry fee, accommodation, travel & food!

Tongue out

What you might be seeing is that if a player disconnects from the server, either by their doing or by the server's, they will be awarded a loss, but that is the main issue that is going to be fixed by Live Chess 2.

It just came to me.  I work to mate a player in a 10 minute game and they just master the art of making quick stalling moves.  I don't see what that adds to Chess in general.  I was thinking and very close to a mate when my time ran out and they had lost about everything but a couple of pawns, a minor piece and their king.

I guess play speed chess if you want to learn to stall.  It teaches nothing else.  I guess I figured if you had them by 10 or more points in material, they would have to PLAY rather than just quick stalling moves.

But I am the only one that seems upset with it, so -- a minority of one does not have a lot of influence.

That's not what I meant! There was a bug and nobody got the alerts! I always have them on! My team members also didn't get an alert!

Perhaps you just want to play longer games or games with longer increment.

Time is an integral part of the game. If you don't enjoy mouse speed races (and I don't either), why not simply choose longer time-controls ? Smile

Kacparov,

There was missed alert cases for some time for everybody, not only you - that problem has been fixed now by the ever-alert, wonderful chess.com staff.

I also faced the same problem for some time - I simply went through all my games all that time (all vote games which I have to supervise I have created desktop shortcuts - it is also possible to quickly browse through them from group vote chess menu and personal online pages for individual and team games).

Yes, inconveniences due to bugs will continue to plague everyone whenever something new is implemented, till the bugs are ironed out. I make bug reports only for serious bugs, not for less than serious ones...

I fully sympathize with your problem.

Kacparov

I noticed the missing alerts too late. 5 games, most of them 12-hour were already timed out. And we haven't won any game on time, which is quite strange. I suppose that some admins noticed it and played something, and it was our turn in most games then. We have lost about 15-20 points on that, which is equivalent to 3 leaderboard places. The percentage went down from 59% to 47% etc. I'm just wondering if only my group lost so many games, or other groups also did (but didn't post on the forum about it)...

dsarkar

Yeah, thank goodness we have minimum 1 day/move games, so we have to move alternate day - that's why we were not affected.

All groups with 12 hr/move or less must be affected unless they have somebody who comes online several times a day...

BTW I dont depend on alerts for the vote games I have to supervise... I visit all those at least once a day...

Kacparov

You must have much time then :)

Not really - I simply take my "job" (even if non-payingWink) very seriously
