"Which is something like 150 games".

So it changes with the weather? You have got someone employed to make a different roof for everyone depending on die rolls? You have an internal daily vote for what it should be?

It is not that I really care, 5 games is a bit over the top for me anyway, I just can't figure how you managed to say it in such a manner.

The 'open' analysis board alows you to move your Queen as a Knight? Can take its own pieces? Sorry, but I do not find this an improvement. Found myself maken two moves after each other and thus winning a game 'in analysis', only in playback found this outEmbarassed ... ehm, what is the use of an open Analysis board?

It's because I'm not 100% sure of the number. It's in the neighborhood of 150, and in fact might be exactly 150, but I'm not confident enough in that number to say for sure.

The use of the open board is to allow you freedom to move the pieces as if you had a board on your desk to analyze with. It allows you to analyze to and from a "dream position" as well as just play with ideas for the game. It was never meant to be a way to verify if your moves were/are legal.

This feature was probably the single most requested feature for the site.

^ Yet there are now many who prefer the old analysis board. Is it difficult to keep both?

So close erik, so close you solved the analysis board problem for correspondence chess but didnt update the analysis boards for live chess. I would imagine they are very similar functionalities. The only noticible diffrence is a title of the game if any and the notes tab in correspondence chess. Other than that I'd imagine that they use more or less the same code since they are so similar.

Fixing it for live chess would put the ice on the cake but your efforts thus far are appreciated.

I wonder what "huge numbers of games" means numerically?

Hehe, i know  the answer to this one. :) It has to be a number of games that is great then the highest number of game awardchess was playing. :)

I don't think you do.

There is a user who has, as I write this, more than ten times the number of in progress games as AWARDCHESS.

3534 to 349

Yeah, i know. I have seen your posts about "wats his name". :) Hehe, i dont think i know off anyone else with more games the awardchess well apart from "wats his name". :)

"There is another"

I'm playing someone who has about  1400 going.  Didn't realize that when I signed for game.  Good player, too.

I can understand, yet sometimes you slip. If it was possible to remove pieces without playing that would really give you an open tool, but that still is not possible. As others also state, would both options availeble not be the best solution?

Having said that, I also would like to thank you for making all of this possible in the first place. I very much like the feel and look of the site.

You can remove the pieces in the Open Analysis Board by placing another piece on them.

This is all good stuff.

SmokeJS

I may not have been paying attention but in case it hasn't been said, I'd like to have the analysis board know the rules of chess. How about as an option?

Eric:

Any chance that we'll be able to see the new analysis board as a mobile chess feature? (Thanks a zillion for mobile chess, by the way.  For Blackberry users like me it's a huge step forward)

TheGrobe

I want everything as a mobile chess feature, but first and foremost visibility into non-move events (resignation, draw offers etc.), followed closely by the ability to view games when it's not my turn, and then by the ability to create and accept seeks.

Yes, and how do you put them back on?

The open Board is a magnificent tool yet the old one was easy to use also for players who do not know the rules. Or as in my case sometimes leave the board open, work for a while and then come back to further analyze. Sure you can use the returnmove button, but hey I'm only exploring whats best here.

Options for both Boards would be the best I think.

Like an on or off button.

Great! Great! Great! Thanks for the buttonCool
