New Live Chat bar

Can this explanation for how to block it be posted again ? I have looked everywhere and have not seen it.

Thanks, NM Ozzie.
So.. if you can block it from running and be protected, the argument that its existence here is a personal danger would be specious.

But the non-premium member who blocks Meebo using browser settings... the chat thingy won't load at all? If that's correct, then whether or not it loads on anyone's page is entirely up to the individual.

My problem is that we should not be forced to use browser blockers to protect us from anything chess.com (or meebo which is forced to us by chess.com) is doing. Many people do not know how to use browser blockers and they might be exposed by just comming here to play chess. I do not like that a bit.
Things like this chat bar should be disabled by default and not forced to anyone. Action should be required to enable and use it, not to disable it if you don't want it.
Of course it is completely up to chess.com to decide what are thoy going to do, if they will use such policies and force malware, adware and other nasty "wares" on anyone or not, but I am free to voice my dissatisfaction with it and even to stop using the site which does things like this.

Internet security issues are not connected to whether you are a paying member or a 'plain member.' I visit many sites on the Internet without directly paying to them, and I am not asked to compromise my emailing passwords and other personal information in return. Just a remainder.

Hey complain away... I'm premium, and I like it. Here's one solution: You can turn off the entire chess.com account, which in turn will shut off Meebo.

I am seriously considering to do that. I guess "premium" members will be happy when they are alone here.
On the top of that I am sorry to say I will never reccomend the chess.com to anyone anymore. So far I recommended chess.com to some people who became members, but I can't reccomend a site that is pushing adware and potentially dangerous software.

Simplest solution: remove all your "friends" - bar disappears for good.
I did that, but still I am not sure if meebo is running in that case. So I blocked it since I use Opera and Mozzila.
No seriously, what I don't get here is why is it so hard to disable it by default and not push it forcefully to anyone. Members who want to use it can explicitely turn it on. Problem solved. Also that is what would serious and respectable site do.

YEah thanks for tht. But it just doesnt show all of my friends available(although they are online). Y So???

i'm not a big fa of this new chess.com chat thing. and also i'm wondering if it's causing chess.com to be terribly slow and from time to time a server error seems to appear
i don't mind the new chat i just wonder if it's causing this lagg...

I have now disabled the chat thing and the site IS incredibly slow.
It has been taking minutes to load pages instead of seconds and sometimes I get an error message as well.
"My desire to protect my passwords and accounts from hacking has nothing to do with laziness or the fact that I am not a premium member."
I'm not a computer programmer. Is there some danger of Meebo harming your computer or hijacking your account if you block it from running?
