to get rid of chat just roll your mouse (don't click) over home near the top of your screen and click on account-privacy-chatbar options hope it helps

Thanks for that, I've noticed a definite improvement in the speed of page changes since turning off the message bar.

I love the new chat bar, but I find that the chat window obscures the "Submit Move" button in my resolution (1280 x 1024). It would be nice if there was some way to resize or move the chat window. It looks like you can drag it around, but it snaps back in place.

if some have cluttered pcs 666 maybe the bar is one straw too many

I don't mind the chat bar, that's cool, but the advertisment? What's that about? I pay so I don't have to look at advertisments! I thought not getting these was a reason for paying? C'mon Erik, I love your site, it's the best, but I should be able not to have to receive ads.

How can I opt out of just the advertisment in the lower left corner?

if you use the meebo bar, you might occassionally get ads. there is nothing we can do about that. but you can opt out of the bar, but you can't keep the bar and not have ads. that's just part of the service :(
