i was looking at your account post Greene.

and it looks like it let the purchaser purchase a year at Gold, and then after the Purchase, broke it down to 4 months at platinum.

why did it not say befor it took the money that you could not buy that person a year at gold.

if i would have been told that it would not be a year at platinum befor the purchase, then i would have waited till his diamond expired. but i was not forwarned.

the order should not go through, if its not what you ordered..

i know now for the future, and my chess heart still goes out to other less fortunate chess players, and will sponsor more in the Future. just a bit mad yesterday.

please help the Lad Out...

To be clear, that picture was indeed taken before I ever entered my credit-card number. The buyer is thus informed that the gift amount will extend the current membership before any payment is taken.

As it happened, the recipient did enjoy an extended term of Diamond benefits appropriate to the amount paid.

bulletheadbilly

Why does the Purchase go through as a $49 platinum Purchase, if it is not a platinum $49 Purchase ? if it had went through as 3 months at diamond, i would have spotted it and would have told him and his credits could have been fixed. It should not show that i am purchasing a year platinum if its not.

so i take that as a no, the lad is premiumless, and i have to pay another $49 to honor my Word to the Lad...Nice...Got to Love it....

its said a $49 Platinum purchase , but i will have to pay $98 to make it so....

Thanks for your time and effort and Responding on this Matter on this matter Greene.

This latest exchange really doesn't sound like "new site design" problems, but something related to problems with policies and membership/premium issues.

Sweet threadjack, bullethead!

bulletheadbilly

Greene is correct, i went to upgrade some one to see if what he said is correct, and it does tell you Ahead of time , in smaller Print, a couple lines down. this one instance, it was going to go from Gold to Platinum, but told me ahead of time that it would keep him at Gold for a longer period of time...My Bust...should have paid closer attention...i told the lad that for the misshap that i will keep him at Diamond in the Future.

Sorry chess.com for dragging your Name Through The Mud, But Greene made it look like it was just Another "Tractor Pull"...

bulletheadbilly

Heya Greene, can you answer one more premium Question ? and then i will move on please. i just went and investigated gift memberships again, and, i was expermenting a gift membership for Somebody that must have a year at diamond already, because when i went to purchase another month at diamond, it said that the $14 would extend him 7 weeks instead of one Month. Does this mean that my Case#2 where i already had them at Diamond for a Month, but purchased a year at Diamond befor it expired, would this extend them at $14 a month for only 6-7 months instead of the whole year at Diamond ?...please respond because its really important to know..

DeepGreene

Are you sure the Somebody wasn't already a Platinum, and not a Diamond?

It doesn't really make sense that $14 (which should = 1 month, or 4 weeks of Diamond) extends a Diamond membership by 7 weeks. Given the possibility of rounding, however, that would make sense if the recipient were currently Platinum.

(Gift for Chess.com Member Domain)
Note: This user already has a premium account, so their membership will be extended by 7 weeks.
1 $14.00 $14.00

this person is already at a diamond (nonSponsored)...so i am assuming they have a year, because at 40% off would explain the 7 weeks at $14 ...

i am just wondering if it works the other way if they are at one month diamond , and i purchase a year at diamond for $99 . would it break it down to $14 a month...

  Total $14.00
DeepGreene

Ah, sorry. I get what you mean now...

Yes, the gift extends the membership according to the rates currently in effect for that membership. So if the user currently pays less (per month) because they subscribe annually, then the gift amount would go further as well.

Well Greene, after investigating a little Further, the person i sponsored for a year at Diamond, after already being at a month at diamond (non expired), never got another Year At Diamond for $99. they only got 7 months, and thats Not Right, but i should have checked befor i purchased it..

I Am Pretty sure this is Fact, because, when i went to experimently Purchase them another year at diamond, it said that they were already at premium, and the $99 would extend them 7 months. thats means they only got seven months for the $99.

i wont copy and paste the Purchase because they are sponsored and dont want to throw thier name out there.

i dont think that is right to do that for $99 when they are already at a Diamond...Got To Love it...

New effect since very recent update:

After entering a comment in the forums or in a vote chess game, submitting the comment, then editing the comment, and submitting the edited comment,

the editor does not go back into empty mode for being able to enter a new comment (as it should and used to do), but it stays in editing mode for the comment just edited and submitted.

This has the effect that at that moment, instead of the usual empty editing window, there is still the text of the comment just edited. And it has the effect that after entering new text and submitting it, this new text does not appear as a new comment, but in the place of the previously edited comment, because the editor is still in editing mode for that previous comment.

My impression is that this editor behaviour is not intentional and should be fixed.

kohai

This should have been fixed yesterday.

ilmago

Thanks a lot, that was a VERY quick fix indeed Smile

Part of this issue seems to have been fixed very quickly indeed, but a very similar, probably related issue seems still to be there:

When one wishes to write a comment in a forum responding to another comment, cites this comments with the "quote" button, then adds some text below the quote, then edits the quote (e.g. deletes part of the quote in order to refer only to a specific sentence), and then maybe adds a little more text below the quoted grey box, and then clicks on submit, the comment is submitted correctly, but the editor box is not empty thereafter. Instead the editor box then contains the complete quoted grey box, in its state before adding text below it and before editing the text in the grey box.

ilmago

addition: After then editing that forum comment once again, and submitting the edited comment, the entire text of that comment remains in the editor window.

So some larger parts of that issue seem still to be around there.

Can't They Get The spellchecker to check the Forum Titles Too, and not just the Content, and the Group Titles Too..?

Conflagration_Planet

I just wish it would stop correcting spelling in posts you quote.

bulletheadbilly

I Just wish, that if they want to Vaporize my group for miss spelling the Title, they would have the Option of Spell Checking It.
