Paying Members don't lose on Time

i like it. not satisfying at all winning on time. i try to not win on time with the function in settings. But equally when i go over on time i find it annoying. I have an extremely busy schedule atm in my life this year. What is  lots of games lost on time good for??? not good for me and not good for my opponents( in my opinion).

I can see both sides to this debate. Sometimes it is frustrating to have a totally won game and your opponent dissapears on vacation (whether a paying member or not). I have a solution to this problem...why dont we have a tab that can be checked or unchecked that offers for the game to be (no vacation allowed?). You could put a seek out, check the tab, and only people who agree not to go on vacation can accept? this way players who want vacation can have it, and players who dont play others who dont? we could also have a setting in the tournemant creation tools to make a tournemant ''no vacation'' too. This wouldnt affect non 'no vacation games, if a player did go on vacation, he would only time out in those games where BOTH players had their ''no vacation'' tab checked? just an idea....this way erik, i think it is possible to please everyone :-))

For any players reading this thread who agree with the no auto-vacation side - I've created an open tournament for players with less than 3 hours per move asking that nobody takes more than 7 days vacation time. 8 players in total with all games to happen simultaneously. Let's get it on, fast players!

Gumpty, I like your idea.

The tourney is called Quickplay Open, by the way.

Part of chess is time management, if the member puts him/herself on vacation that's fine but managing your time poorly and then being bailed out just because you pay subscription isn't fair, it makes the game unequal. Does magnus have this advantage just because he is the highest rated player and world champion? No. So make chess equal again.

Don't get me started on the time thing...and chess.coms apathetic and dismissive response to my own gripes. I find so many players just abandon games and leave you forced to claim victory on time, if not at least to close the game down. And I don't think there should be one rule for subscription players and one rule for non subscribers, but I'm gradually realizing that the chess world from top to bottom is full of individuals with 'difficulties' who find it hard to be fair, avoid sulking like a teenager, lose with dignity, or listen to the other persons point of view effectively and break out of their own rigid and narrow perspectives.

Actually, the "rules" around vacation time are the same for premium and basic members: when it's your turn in a Daily game, you can pause the clock and start using up your vacation time.

The differences are that for premium members, vacation time is automatically switched on when they are running low on time, they accrue it faster, and can have a greater maximum amount; see https://support.chess.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1444787-how-does-vacation-work-how-much-time-do-i-get-

Lets drag this issue on for another 10 years as I'm only good at blaming and complaining. Thanks for the clarification David and Postafi. I do so love being trolled by the paying elite.

I will continue to resign rather than win on time while I build myself up from the lower levels all over again. How's that for attitude?! Funnily enough I lost 4 games in a row on time the other day...not deliberately, of course. wink.png

Isn’t this forum from 2008? And no one has resolved this?

There is nothing to resolve. As explained already by David, everyone has access to vacation time. It's just that premium players get it started automatically if their time runs out. Non-paying players are free to go on vacation any time they want so long as they don't forget to click on the option.

I know, just chewing the fat about other issues related to and around it. Although I do support the idea that paying members should start with an extra file of pawns.
