That's like saying if you can't break 90 in golf you might as well quit. I've been told by avid golfers who regularly shoot in the low to mid 80's that quite a few who are in that category still enjoy playing even though they know that they will not get better no matter how hard they try. Why would Chess be any different in that regard?
