Why quit ( resign )  when when playing a game ?  It's a game.  Go back to childhood edict and play nice.  I take the time to play chess and learn new skills especially when I'm the underdog in a game.  I don't just up and leave the game, log off than log on and I get matched with the same person that just rudly quit on me.   Is it rude to ask prior to the game start if they are planning to resign ??

I am unfamiliar with the term "childhood edicts".    
e·dictˈēdikt/noun an official order or proclamation issued by a person in authority.

Perhaps "rules" would be better than "edicts". This is probably the list of playroom rules you

  6. I don't agree that it is rude for people to resign when they want to.  It is actually an expression of respect for your skill. They believe that the situation is clear enough so that they will lose unless you make a total blunder.

As far as asking before hand if they are planning to resign, the question would be fairly bizarre without any explanation.  However, before the game starts, I suppose there is no harm in letting people know that you plan to play until checkmate. I hope that there are some situations where you could consider agreeing to a draw.
