You guys are just being rude. Everyone starts somewhere. I mean live chess isnt accurate. Your online rating could be 1200 and in real life ur USCF rating could be 700.

I studied a couple of Chess books of my Dads published in the 30's and that really helped me out when I was 16 and they were a big help.
They are ruining chess... man , before playing they should learn something about this game dont u think ? Not saying to learn all the openings but the basics... some people just play the game knowing how piecces move and never learn , and there are also people who know how to move but dont know how to castle or what is a pinned pawn... so they make threads like: "why king can't eat a piece guarded by another piece" or "why i can't check being in check" ... this proves that they are getting out of control, like an infection, and they spread noobishness around, we can not allow them ruin this wonderful game !!
I think if your online rating is under 1900 then you should be slaughtered like a lamb, with your pieces and parts being fed to the better players.
Say, I'd like some free pieces. Oh, I like scholastic sets best, too, before you go get me a wooden set.

I find chess books very difficult and confusing to read.

Do you have evidence that one standard deviation in terms of elo ratings is exactly 100 points?
everybody should be able to play chess!!!
Of course 1sd isn't 100 points or two thirds of players would be in a 200 point bracket which is clearly wrong.
