A few minutes ago I bested a good sportsman in the Sicilian. It was a rather fun game. I had white, opted for the traditional open variation, and pretty much decimated my opponent. Thanks to

I noticed straight from the opening that my opponent was being quite defensive - moves like h6 and a6 pretty much announce a defensive player most of the time - so my counter offer was to simply play for the endgame.
It's very difficult to mate a defensive opponent, and those games usually lead to the endgame anyway. I knew my opponent wasn't going to bother me much with aggressive tactics, so I used that breathing space to set-up a winning endgame for white before black could even catch on.
