If you want tips to improve I suggest watching a youtube video on an opening. For example the london opening and stick to playing that one opening in your games. Also find some videos on defences if your opponent plays 1.e4 or 1.d4 as these are the most common openings. Once your confident with the openings you got from youtube videos also have a look at endgame strategy. For example how to checkmate with a rook, how to checkmate with a queen. Common checkmates like back rank mate etc.
