so can i point out that this 'point' discussion is pointless bcos there is no point in the use of points. Btw, how many points did I get to add a point to this pointless discussion
Several people have been asking what points are and what to do with them so I thought I would clarify.
Points are a way of measuring the relative size of the text. You can use the font size to select how many points you want to use. Note that if you use an oversize font unnecessarily it will cost you the number of points listed. For instance:

just cost me 36 points.
Using a too-small font for old geezers is also penalized, so, "Think before you Shrink!" Listen to your parents and use a normal font size.
