Questions for today's "State of Chess.com" Address
Question: you are working on IPhone/Live Chess/site stability currently, but are there any upcoming updates you can tell us about that are planned for turn-based chess and/or the site in general?
I would post many things here but i am not a paying member so i can't watch the chess.com TV but i wish i could
Free members can watch this ;-) Go ahead and post your questions! :-)
Will there be live coverage of Topalov vs Anand available to gold members?
What will be the policy regarding disconnectors on Live Chess 3?
As far as I know there's nothing else on the net quite like chess tv (there was something called chess tv on youtube but it was garbage) And I'm wondering if you are planning to use it for live coverage of major events?
Would be the coolest thing if you could switch between live images of the stars and chess boards with the positions. With this and commentary you would bring superior coverage than anything that currently exists imo.
My main concerns are with Live 2. What have you learned from the testing? What issues have you addressed? What things are you still working on? What's the projected timeline for full release?
(Also, do I remember reading that ratings and games are going to be wiped after the switchover?)
Will Chess TV eventually have close-caption? Daniellesurfergirl is deaf and
was interested in finding out. She says some Youtube chess videos have CC but she would like to watch Chess TV.
The "Article Authors Versus Video Authors" team vote chess game does not appear to have a link. I have noticed some members say they couldn't find it. The only way I can reach it is through the "Chess is Beautiful" email I received last month.
It is a very interesting game between masters and would be highly viewed
and discussed.
The Kasparov-Karpov rematch is in two weeks, on 9/21. I thought it would
be fun if we had some sort of recap forum where we all could gather to discuss
the games, there will be twelve fast games in all I believe.
That would make for an entertaining broadcast.
Live coverage would be great. We could send an army of chess.commers out with Skyped cell phones and relay back to chess tv during the events.
A simple glossary under the 'Learn' tab might be a quick resource for many questions by newcomers. The moderators can give them the link to a glossary filled with chess terms and site terms, or more likely, they'll find it on their own and not ask for definitions.
One member mentioned to me the idea of having time zone conversions
right here on Chess.com instead of having to go to an outside website every time.
I'm having a bit of [embarassing] confusion with the time-zone conversion. Just to clarify, does 6:00pm PDT transpose to 8:00pm CDT (Chicago)?
You can go here and it tells you the current PDT time, http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Pacific/d/-8/java

i'm going to be broadcasting my weekly "State of Chess.com" address live today on Chess.com TV at 6pm PDT. if you have any questions or anything you would like to talk about, please post it here!
see you there...
