Hi, There is a feature wherein your opponent can go on vacation for a set number of days (I have had an opponent go on vacation for 90 days). They essentially paste their clock and can return from vacation when they want or be forced off when their time is up. I happen to have A LOT of thoughts on this, so buckle up ......... There seems to be a mild amount of controversy surrounding this. Some people do not think it should be allowed, as the opponent is stalling the game after agreeing to a set time control. Others say that it is good, because these games can last a long time and life can get in the way. For my part I see both sides, but I have had only very irritating experiences with opponents on vacation. For instance I am currently up a full piece and have a much better position than my opponent in a daily game, and they just added 65 days to to their clock. Annoying. Another problem is that this can be used to cheat, but no one seems to talk about that. Opponents use this to add extra time to their clocks and go on and off vacation, still making moves. Essentially this is clock manipulation. Another thing that has happened to me, which is most irritating of all, is that the opponent has started an UNGODLY amount of daily games - literally 300 in one instance - and then went on vacation, and kept coming off and on vacation, manipulating their clock after a problem they created

I know all of you experienced this for maybe at least once:
Your daily games pause when you didn't even make the decision of pausing it.
Does anyone know the cause of this? Or maybe this isn't a bug and I'm just an idiot?
Premium members are automatically placed on vacation when low on time in one or more Daily games, with the exception of games in no-vaction tournaments.

This really shouldn’t be allowed. I didn’t even know it existed until yesterday. I agree that it can be used to game the system.
I just had an opponent pause the game she had accepted just a few days ago — for a month.
I don’t always play every day like I have been recently, so what if I miss the notification of her move when she finally comes back to the board? Do I automatically lose a game into which I’ve put a lot of thought?
