Random draw before accept

I wonder, when you challenge someone to a match with a random sides, why does the result of the random draw display before the game has been accepted? It is confusing, and gives players the option of being selective in what matches they accept.

Could this be changed?

It doesn't bother me, I'll play what ever comes up

Same here.

TheMoonwalker

But I agree.. it should be changed

It's not something big to me either, but principally it is just downright wrong, and it couldn't take a lot of time to fix.

I don't understand what effect this could have...what's the point exactly?

If you only want to play white you can simply choose to accept only challenges where the draw is in your favor.

You have to know that you will gain rating points if you draw a much higher rated opponent and lose points if you draw a much lower rated opponent, so what is the difference between knowing exactly how many points are at stake for a draw than for a win or a loss?

Draw as in "drawing straws", not draw as in "drawn game".

Probably shouldnt have used the word 'draw' then - i had to read everything twice.

I can't find a better word, I have now tried to make it a bit more clear.

I see, you mean that you should have to accept a random seek without knowing if you are Black or White. This is a good idea in theory, but players could still aboort games before 4 moves are made if they didn't want the color, so you would have to change the abort feature as well.  Sometimes players abort games because they don't want the opponent.

Oh I get it now. Yeah I guess that's a problem. But I guess if people only want to play as white, they'll find a way. It's their loss that they don't get to experience the other half of game play.

carpman

I'm as bad with white as I am with black. So I don't care. Not a bad idea though.

Of course cheating or misconducting is possible on so many levels anyway. But this system is really an invitation to bad behaviour. When you recieve an invitation to a game you never see random colours, you are forced to know if you will have the white pieces or not before you make the choise of playing the game or not. Even if you try to ignore it, it is going to bias your decision in some way.
