Ratings hack?

I noticed a player whose rating increased 400 points from 2 games. It went from in the 800 to about 1250. And there are other ratings irregularities subsequent. It just seems very suspicious.

He/she has played 400 daily games so I wouldn't think it would be caused by some initial rating uncertainty and irregularity. I hate to be skeptical but I am. And integrity of one person's ratings brings to question everyone's.

Hmm. I think it is most likely that you are mistaken.

It is impossible to answer your question unless you say who you are talking about and if you said, then you would be making a cheating accusation, which isn't allowed.

Usually when we see something that dramatic, it turns out that 99% of the other games were unrated. That could make the sudden rating change possible.

I hope so and that makes me feel better. I mean, what would be the point other than vanity?

Thanks

Only one of your opponents went from ~800 at the start of your games to ~ 1250 at the end of your game, though the actual gap was ~ 375 rating points.

As @justbefair had already suggested you are mistaken. On your opponent's profile it shows 400 games played. But if you look at the detailed stats you can see that only 44 of these games were daily games. Of the daily only 22 games were rated games.

Of these 22 games there were 5 games, primarily in their first couple of games, that were won/lost on time on the first or second move. The games were practically over before they started and are considered to be aborted games. They don't count. If you check the individual games, you'll notice that for the aborted games there was no rating adjustment (a keen observer can also see this in the games archive, without opening every individual game).

Which leaves a total of 17 games played, of which 13 games won and 1 draw. I don't see any signs of irregularities. If you're a skeptical, even as a not very inquisitive one, you should be pleased to know that every rating change of every game is public record. You can check it all if you'd like to, that's better than questioning the integrity of everyone's rating.
