rematch requests: why

in online chess, why would you ask for a rematch when you lose? I can think of only two reasons: 1. you like the way you were beaten and would rather keep playing this opponent than a random draw 2. you're upset at the way you were beaten and want a chance to exact revenge. #1 is cool but nobody cares who they play at the 1100 to 1400 range so move along. not to mention those of us who've been here longer than a month usually end up muting chat so even if this is your reason, nobody will ever know. #2 is lame. you give your victor the added satisfaction of seeing you pathetically beg for a chance to recoup.

In casual OTB-play it's common courtesy to play an opponent with both colors. Maybe that opponent is simply acting out of habit? Or maybe they just felt like playing you because it was a close game and they enjoy those? Please stop thinking everyone has some ulterior motive when all they do is request a rematch.

Hi

OP has no clue what he's talking about. According to him, there are only negative reasons as to why one would offer a rematch. Ever thought that the person may just enjoy playing another game with the same opponent? #clearlynot

Maybe that’s the reason at your level.
