No lynching here. I apologize for upsetting the politically correct way of thinking. I still don't see confessing that you are a lying backstabbing cheat makes you anymore mature. Playing an honorable game of chess is like marriage. There are boundaries that once crossed you can never return from. Once you cheat I'll never be able to trust you again. If I do the mature thing and tell my spouse I cheated rest assured there would REALLY be a lynching.

ChessDweeb, that wasn't what Lizard was apologising for..... He was apologising for betraying Erik's trust. Would you never accept an apology from anyone who has every wronged you, lied to you?
All my joking aside. Sure I have forgiven people like that. I just couldn't trust them again. Two totally different issues. Trust verses forgiveness.
Accepting an apology is fine.
Thinking more highly of them (in terms of maturity and being a "man") because of the apology is, for me, something that isn't ever on! And will that trust ever return.....highly doubtful!

i disagree,most people deny or dont say anything,especially on this site,at least he had the balls to admit he was wrong,unlike some romanian playyer i cant rember his name who flatly denied it,im not saying wht he did was ok it wasnt but at least he came out,he no`s he isnt trusted and he betrayed eric trust
I don't know if he actually stole the check or borrowed it without her permission. But can you blame him? A lifetime membership playing chess with us or old grandma always telling him what to do. It's an understandable conclusion. Maybe wrong, but I can see the reasoning behind it.
