Yeah i know none of you guys know me, but hi my name is Tiamo. i suck at chess and ever since i touched the board i've been stuck at -800 elo for way to long now. my mentality is drained and i've raged, tilted too many times and some other stuff i'll probably find out in the future. i have a whole shelf of books i've read, i've taught people chess and now they've gotten better and reached 900-1000 elo. i'm sick of doing this every day and i've asked people during chess matches about what to do and the feedback is absolutely terrible. i know i haven't placed my mark in anything in the world, but worth the try.

what am i meant to do cause i'm genuinely confused, lost and drained

Maybe you just need to take a break for a while and let your mind relax. Don't stress yourself out over a game .

Depends how long you play for chess. Idk, but for me, i get mental fatigue very often, so i eouldnt be able to think. From that, i lost like around 100 elo when i had it. I reccomend taking breaks when u feel worned out

Also, when u are feeling mad, take a break

I used to have a bad habit of only thinking about the elo. If you do this, try to only think about the game, not your elo

You may be focusing on elo to much, so try to focus on the game instead

Why waste your time on a game you despise playing? I asked this question too, but I also love the game at the same time. The question is, do you get more joy or more hate from this game? If the answer is hate or negativity there's nothing wrong with leaving it. I also love retro games and often get more joy out of those my point is why be miserable while using your limited time on this instead of another joy? I think we all get angry, because ultimately we want to be a Magnus and we can't chess is a game of loss and losing, even when you reach 2,000 elo, 2500 elo, 2800, elo and even if you could reach the top your still going to loss. This is forever the nature of this game.

I randomly reviewed one of your games

I think you need to think about what you are doing more carefully. Like move 6. Why do you ignore his attacking knight? Kick it.

Then in move 8. He tries to kick your knight and you offer check, but why? What's the purpose of the check? All that happens is he defends and you have two pieces which can be taken.

You then spend time getting your king in the corner and losing two pieces. That's not a good trade. Move 14 you put the king in check but why? And you haven't developed your 2nd bishop yet.

Ok you win the game but only really through luck.

Have you done the free lessons which help beginners improve? If not you should do them. Also check our YouTube speedruns where someone explains the opening basics.

Bro geniunely if you dont enjoy the game anymore you should quit. No point playing a game you dont like. If you really want to improve though I would recommend Silmans endgame books and puzzles. And idea a lot of people dont talk about is an electronic chessboard. I have one that lets me set the level of the computer so its good otb training when you don't have any to play with.

Do a half an hour of tactics every day for a month... play up to only 3 rapid games a week.

Thoroughly.... and I mean thoroughly Analyze each game, first by yourself, then run it through an engine..

well see you in a month .. by week 3 you will be winning 2 out of the 3 games.

If your like me... Chess vision, tactics and calculating doesn't come easy... Only by a constant hammering of tactics everyday do I play at my potential... If I slack off... I'm right back to making blunders ...
