Sometimes less is more

I'm a big fan of this site, obviously since I bought a Platinum membership. But if I could have my way, I would love to *see* much less on this site. Or at least I'd love to see a theme where there is only the essentials. I don't like to do this, but I want to show you what I mean. Queenalice and Chessatwork are formats I love--clean and organized well, no fluff. *I'm* not a big fan of all the little graphics, big fonts, lots of (visually confusing colors) and messages like "post to your blog!" or "put photos in your photo album!" Open another browser and go to one of the sites I suggested above and ALT-TAB back and forth between this site and them. That's the best way I can describe it. I would *not* want this to be the default for the site, but if someone would create an "essentials-only" theme, or if there was a way to have a minimal interface (which would save you bandwidth, by the way), I would probably pay for a life membership. Thanks for listening.

Edit: Or even if it was optional to see the "Say Something!" or "My Notes" sections, etc. Like with iGoogle or news.google. You can choose which sections you want to see and remove the ones you don't care to see.

It would help greatly if you could post a screenshot one of of the busy pages you are referring to, and just circle which parts of the page you'd like to be able to remove/control. We're all about trying to make the site as customizable as possible and we TRIED to design the site to be as clean and "fluff free" as possible. I'm not sure I understand which parts of the site are busy or which pieces bother/annoy you, so a screenshot and a little photoshop circling the parts that do would go a long way in helping me understand the request.  THANKS!

 Things *I* think are superfluous:

on the My Online Chess page...

Recent Game Stats, Start New Game, My Open Invites. I really just want to see my current games.

On My Home:

My picture (I don't need to see myself looking back at me), "View my public profile (in text w/a red background)" , "Say Something!", My Notes, Latest Blog, and My Photos. Call me old, I am 36, but blogging and photos aren't my thing. 1/2 the site is 30+ (or close to it), I think that generation just doesn't care to blog or share pics. Anyway, it would be great *for me* if these "superfluous" sections were optional to view, like on iGoogle.com. Would save you bandwidth.

Also, sending me an email for each move (not just when I'm logged out or "1 per login", is something I'd prefer. I play so few games, I really don't want to keep my browser open. An email letting me know it's my move, the move they made, and the FEN for the game would be awesome.

In case you want something immediate, i think you can get browser extensions that allow you to remove items on webpages.

i don't expect anyone to actually go through with it, they're just my preferences. and obviously there's no rush; it's just design (nothing's broken). thanks for listening. :-)

the email thing (one per move) would be cool, though.

it's impossible to make everyone happy :) why not just signup with the RSS feature? :) that will report every single move...
