sore LOOSERS

WHATS WITH ALL THE PLUMS THAT LET THE TIME RUN OUT WHEN THEY ARE LOOSING ? IYS ONLY A GAME.

iEpicFail

Right, it's only a game and there's no point in getting mad over how your oponet choses to finish.

SeitelJN

Yes just a game, but what is irritating is when you're in a tournament, you're one move from mating your opponent so he stalls the match for a day and a half and when he gets down to a half hour left on his clock, he decides to use some of his vacation time to further prolong the inevitable.

mosqutip

Yeah real problems with those loosers. Goin' around, making things less tight.

Ninshikou

Sounds like you got amazing opponents who wants to show you the art of patience.

Have a nice day.

LOL.

Practicality

I keep hearing this complaint. Why not just let the time run out? Go read some articles a while.

Sometimes they make a move at the last moment in hopes that you arn't paying attention and will lose on time.

Who? Well from the pure caps post I assumed you were. Actually, my "style" is making bad moves with no over all strategy, while losing very quickly.

stalling is unsportsmanship like

While you wait, you could practise bringing your spelling up to a third grade standard.

When you start the game, you agree to the time constraints.  If they aren't to your liking, don't start the game.  If your opponent is abusing the vacation time, you can report it.

Or you can waste your time posting stupid complaints in the forum about something that nobody has any control over except for you.  Correspondence chess is not a game for the impatient.

bcguy390

you guys need to stop over reacting about what someone chooses to do on their time. If its a forced mate, just stick it in the conditional moves and get along with your life.

To rovingeye...

Spell checkers will not catch the bad spelling of "looser" for "loser" as both are legitimate words.

This is one of the most common misspellings among chess players who never bothered to pay attention to their elementary school education.  For those whose native language is not English, well, they get a pass.

on a pedantic note the spell check will actually pick up both "loosers" and "loosing"

Very and quite pathetic also.

"If your postings are strewn with bad grammar and misspellings, the only conclusion that can be drawn is that you are either careless or ignorant."

Just as such fussyness on an "informal" discussion board leads one to conclude that you are either inherently rude and lacking in social skills or that you are just not getting any.

How mature.

When I see an egregious spelling or grammar error, that is when I assume the person is either a child who has not learned the rules yet, or an adult who writes like a child who has not learned the rules yet.  On an international message board like this, there is also the possibility that the person is writing in a language other than their native tounge.  In any of those cases it is appropriate to inform the person about the rule they are neglecting, so that they will be taken seriously in the future when they are in a more formal setting.

I have never had a child correct my grammar.  Pointing the errors out is associated more with grumpy old men than with children, I would imagine.

BillyIdle

I'm not bothered by that either.  Have you tried chatting with them while the game is in progress?
