Slow live games have always been hard to find online. There used to be a couple slow chess groups on here but idk if they're still around. I'm just coming back after a 2 year break.
Sportsmanship rating check?

It may have gotten really bad recently. There' slow groups but I have a terrible schedule so I can't always make it to a pre-assigned time game. Uuugh. I hate anything less than 60 min / game games b/c I don't think that quick. But I'm suspicious that I've been flagged for taking 15-20 mins at what I perceive as critical points in some games.

I don't think the up/down sportsmanship process is being used to filter players into that pool. Abandoning games and letting time run out in Live is.

In the future they may start using the up/down vote as a factor, but I would bet it likely won't be a heavy weight since there can be a lot of noise in that system (e.g. people that flag poor sports when beaten).

thank you for the link. From the link:
"stall to make opponents wait unnecessarily"
Considering how often I get yelled at by opponents for exactly this, I bet that what has happened is:
1. I get in a tight spot in a game.
2. I take "too long" to move.
3. Now I'm flagged as a unsporting player.
Becuase "stalling" and "unecessary" aren't defined, maybe b/c i'm just not that good at chess (I'm sub 1300 here) I'm being flagged b/c in an obviously won or lost position I'm taking too long to move. 8(
This is really sad b/c I enjoy slow chess but i guess "kids today" don't play slow chess so I need to find a new hobby or a new site that doesn't penalize slow chess. Or at least maybe somewhere that defines it better. I really think that's why I can't get a game.
I'm about to give up here on getting in daily chess.
I know that if we get flagged for poor sportsmanship (eg. not resigning lost games, playing "too slow", abandoning games, or getting a thumbs down at the end of a game) then we get put in the poor sportsmanship pool.
I know the admins have seemed to put out a "trust us, we know what we're doing" vibe on this. I have not seen it directly asked (but I will be shocked if I'm the first to ask). I have searched and noone seems to be asking. Maybe these questions are being deleted b/c they offend someone?
I'm asking b/c although I can get a 10 min game quickly, I used to be able to get 60 or 45/45 games all the time. Recently I leave the tab open & wait. Sometimes the audio comes through when a player joins, other times not, and lately when I check back there's still no pairing. Slow chess can't be THAT unpopular? Or am I in a bad sportsmanship pool? Should I not renew & just go with a different service? Are 60 min and 45/45 games hard to come by on competing chess sites?
