Ok, so I was thinking of running a Swiss tournament here on chess.com. Basically the idea is that anybody who's interested should post their rating here, and I'll include you in the list. However, because Swiss tournaments take too long, and I like things running fast (as I'm sure many of you do), there will be some restrictions:
Since there is no elimination in Swiss and this tournament is just for fun, this tournament is open to players of any rating.
Once I feel I've gotten a good number of people, I'll pair people up and post the pairings on my blog. I'll post the link to that post here as well, which brings me to my next point: track this thread. Although I plan on keeping track of things publicly using my blog (thank you, Erik!), I will post the links here as well for easy access. Any additional information will also be here.
Once I pair people up, it is your responsibility to initiate the game with your opponent. Time controls must be one day per move, and you will only be playing your opponent in one game (as one color, which I will specify in the pairings).
Once your game is finished, send me the link to the game via private message, and I'll update my records. Once everybody's games are done in the first round, I'll post the results, perhaps a few games, and the next round's pairings.
If your opponent is not accepting your game challenge, or if the proper game is not running (e.g. with the right colors) within three days of my posting the pairings, the player at fault will be withdrawn from the tournament. I will send you a warning by the second day if the game has not begun.
I unfortunately don't have anything to offer for the winner, so please be aware this is just for fun for those who are interested. Also, since I don't have a computer program to assist me, although I will be using FIDE's regulations for Swiss pairing, I may make mistakes; if so, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Thanks, and I'm at least some of you are interested! Post any questions you have here.
