Team Chat

While chess.com is a great site, I feel a positive addition would be a "team chat" feature. The bigger issue is a general chat feature for all members to interact, but atleast a team feature to help members develope and discuss tatics and what the hell is going on!. It unites teams by creating friendships and drives respect and pride in team matches. Anway, I feel the site and the memebers would greatly improve, if we had a site and team live chat feature.

Once upon a time, just for kicks, we set up a group chat in The Night Owls Insanity Club.

This might be a good temporary substitute, just for fun for whatever groups are interested in doing so.

I also thought it might be ideal for FAST PLAYER VOTE CHESS.

I remember Billium mentioning how difficult it was to engage in group discussion for those 5 minute games - I suspect this would be ideal.

Rael,

It would be ideal for Fast Vote Chess, you could have whatever players are online vote there moves, you wouldn't really be able to discuss moves until after the game, but its  a great way to induse improvement and team unity......gonna go on a whim and "say together we stand, divided we fall". Sorry for the corny line, but I just want a team chat for team members to get to know each other andwant the team to win.

Oh absolutely, we had a lot of fun with it back when I was a member.

The thing seems to exist forever too, I was surprised to see the group chat I'd opened months ago still open, so, it's ideal.

Kindof fun to meet your fellow group members in realtime, to be sure.

On the contrary.  That is the best part about vote chess.  You DO discuss each and every move DURING the game (at least you should if you want to win).  It's the only format where that kind of interactive communication is allowed during play.

You right Billium, I have to admit I have just been introduced to vote chess, and I also agree with discussing each move as a great way to learn. But I often dont explain my reason behind making a move, just select my move and see what is chosen. Do you have any advice to someone being timmid to voicing their opionoin for fear of looking like an idiot lol (me).

You'll never understand why it's a bad move until you say, "Hey, Why not this?" and someone answers, "Because of this."  I can't count how many times I've found myself saying, "Duh!  I see it now." after being told the error of my ways.

If you have some logic behind your decision, it's good to show your work like you had to in math class.  Let everyone else see what you see.  If you're not sure, it never hurts to just say a move with a ? and nothing else.  Let someone else take it and run with it.
