The 2012 World Championship of Chess!

And also good games Gelfand. You at least proved that it was not piece of cake for Anand as many were believing.

the rapid play quality was kinda bad. aronian vs kramnik was perhaps better.
===================
Then why did not they qualified for challenger seat ?

You guys need to stop being sooo gloom and doom...this was a wonderful match...and the Rapids were great...for my first time...

Wll said!
This was the most boring of all the WCC's so far. :( :( :(

Thanks for a good time trysts...see you next WCC...
Thank you too, jesterville! It was so much fun! Everyone I know is endlessly amused by me liking chess so much, but they don't know what they're missing Thank you again Charlotte, for this thread! The over 2000 comments from everyone made it doubly enjoyable to read

I personally think Vishy should get deserved respect in India after he arrives. ( I am well aware this was not the best of Vishy ). But considering the fact that in India any tom dick and harry playing cricket can earn more than Vishy's WCC first prize in just one season of IPL, I truly believe Vishy is doing great and he should not be retire soon. And Govt. of India/Media should honor Vishy rather than giving importance to ( Black money funded ) IPL cricket matches.

How suprising, my quote earlier was correct.
''Well. That's a pathethic end. Boris had earned the draw and then just spoiled it.
This is the worst world championship I've ever seen. >_> I'm sure the rest of the games will be draw and anand can proudly say he earned the world championship because his opponent blundered in a drawn position because the time controll was changed to 20 minutes.
If that was classical chess boris would have held that with ease. But yeah. This world chamionship was now maybe decided by a simple blunder in a drawn position.
This is supposed to be the very peak of chess. Many of the very strongest chess players make this their life goal and a ton of them do not make it. THIS is what they're dreaming about!?
PATHETHIC.
Truly disgusting. Anand has not earned the right to get to retain the world champion title here. Two blunder losses from both sides and rest draws, go into rapid games where the players play with pathethic inaccuracy where the game shifts from white being winning to drawn to black possibly winning to white winning to draw to white won.
This is stupid. This is the first time in this entire world championship that I've been genuinely irritated with the play. I had assumed anand had a strategy in mind where he simply waited for blitz where he intended to stop slacking off. But no. He is simply no longer even close to the demigod of chess he used to be.
This reminds me so much of the rematch with spassky and fischer. I'd rather forget about it and imagine that fischer never returned in the same way that I'd like to forget about this joke and think about the Gelfand who managed to score some of my favorite wins as black in the sicilian and the anand who waited for 1;40 sec at move 4 in a blitz vs smeetzybeetz and then proceeded to slaughter him without any difficulties.
I'm not watching any more of this WC. I'll go buy some sushi instead.''

damn...missed the action oh well...congrats to Vishy
although it wasn't the most exciting match it had it's moments

I agree with Heltzeth to every word and I want to add:
Sushi is certaily more fascinating than this WC, I wish I could join you.

Congratulations to both players; I've enjoyed the many interesting and exciting games! Although trysts' new avatar is also nice.

damn...missed the action oh well...congrats to Vishy although it wasn't the most exciting match it had it's moments
Don't worry , we don't feel particularly lucky for not missing it.The most exciting point of the match was the rumor that Trysts is going to post one of her pictures.

Yes! My prediction was correct!
My prediction being - the blitz games would be decided by someone making a stupid blunder.
That might have been the World Championship, but the chess was boring, uninspired and just plain bad at times. Anand might have retained his title, but the value of that title is doubtful ... there is no way he is the best chess player in the world at the moment.
wow...these Rapids were lots of fun...
