The darn seventh Year...

Sometimes I get so upset about mistakes I've made while playing that I want to stop playing chess at all. After seven years of practice, I think that stupid mistakes are no longer allowed to happen. In addition, after seven years I have hardly increased my Elo-number. This is still at the level of a hobby player, even though I practiced intensively and played often (here and elsewhere).

So what is Your advice; either stop playing chess or continue practicing?

By the way: I am 57 years old now and ask myself whether I am simply too old to make a remarkable progress like the young talents...
