The evaluation bar in the Speed Chess Championship streams

The Speed Chess Championship is my absolute favorite online chess event. There is nothing quite like it anywhere else, watching 2 top players battling it out over 4-5 hrs is just pure bliss.

However, since 2020, Chess.com has started displaying the evaluation bar during the streams and personally I feel it takes too much away from the simple enjoyment of the game. I find myself constantly glancing at the eval bar with every move that the players make rather than trying to get a feel for the position. The players obviously don't have an evaluation bar and I feel like viewers would also benefit more by not having a top engine instantly break down the position. As an example, in the first game Hikaru vs Ding streamed a few hours ago, Ding's amazing move 23. Nxd4 is completely blunted by an unimpressed eval bar. Without the eval bar telling you right off the bat that the move doesn't amount to anything, you could marvel at the daring attempt and try to figure out the idea behind the move. Having 2 grandmasters comment on the moves is just perfect, it helps steer not so strong players toward possible lines to consider but even there I would much prefer that the commentators brainstorm their own ideas rather than consult Stockfish every time.
