link please? :)
The percent of tournament games completed

Well, I'm not sure what link you're asking for, Erik, but the URL where you can see it shown as 62% is
http://www.chess.com/tournaments/myhome.html
where myhome refers to me, nimbleswitch, if you can call that up directly yourself.

You are right, in my tournament Big Players(Over 500 games) the percent went down while more games were finished.

Apparently not, NM ozzie- In my group, Chess.com shows the percentage competed as 62%, but the percentage completed for the entire tournament as 78%.

The % complete you are seeing on your tournaments my home page is the % complete of the entire tournament. It is to SOME degree a rough estimate since its impossible to know EXACTLY how many future games are left in a multi round tournament. However, I don't see any bugs with this calculation as it currently stands. If you think there is a problem, please send us the link to the tournament homepage so we can look at the percentages there and explain why they are wrong.

No, I guess everything is fine. I wasn't looking at it right. I thought the 62% was supposed to be my group, and the 78% was supposed to be the first round of the whole tournament. But the explanation that the 62% is the whole tournament and the 78% is the first round of the whole tournament makes everything make sense, so that's probably it. That also explains why the the 62% seemed to have been rising at around a percent per day for a while.
Sorry I troubled everybody. I get it now. Thanks to all.

12 games - 6 completed, 6 remaining - system says the tournament is 60% done instead of 50%.
The problem is that the system is not taking into account the games which have not yet begun (in tournaments with 1 concurrent game per opponent).
In this case, 2 games have not started yet, which means that 10 of the 12 games are "active." The 60% completed comes from using the "active" games (6 out of 10 = 60%) rather that the "total" games (6 out of 12 = 50%) which would be more accurate.
I would think that a fix would be as simple as changing the variable in that equation, but I'm not a computer programmer, so I don't know. And like he said in the 1st post, it's not really THAT important.
I really don't think this is very important--unless the running percent of tournament games completed in a round is important for some reason I don't know about--but I've noticed that the percent completed figure is not very accurate.
For example, in my current round (Group 47) in the 4th 1800-2000 Chess.com tournament, Chess.com showed our group's games as 59% complete when we had completed 14 out of 20 games in our group--exactly 70%. The next day the percent indication was 60%, the next day 61%, now it's showing 62% and we're still actually at 70% complete.
Again, I don't see that this stat is very important, but if it is for some reason I don't know about, then it's not being reported very accurately. Just for whatever it's worth.
