So what happened to you, chess.com? Did you finally grow up?
And did that make you boring?
Where is the drama?
I think the drama ended with William Shakespeare's death in 1616.
I honestly hope you're joking. If not, then you have an insane lack of self-awareness.
Back to the site after a well deserved holiday, I realized that it had been a long time since the last time my dear chess.com users enjoyed my last thread. I felt I was not doing enough to earn the generous salary Erik pays me, and I did not want to anger our most benevolent dictator again, so I proceeded to write one of my exquisite pieces of non-chess related, pompous and supposedly literary rubbish.
In search of inspiration, I went to explore the forums. However, where some months ago there was a dense and almost impenetrable jungle of threads, now I could only see a couple of trees and some bushes. So I had to go further, to a place never explored by civilized men: the off-topic section. After fighting against the stubborn natives, I discovered that were not protecting a treasure of golden threads. To say it briefly, the forums were dead.
Why could this be? Maybe nothing important had happened recently?
I was surprised. Only a few days ago, I had read a tiny article by Spain's favourite (and only) bald chess journalist Leontxo García telling us about a 11-year old Murican prodigy (whose parents are Corean, I must say) who won something. I expected at least one thread telling us the greatness of America and its chess players. Oh, thread, where art thou?
But most importantly, V2 has been killed, repealed and replaced and there has not been a revolution. The best I found was an old thread that had been temporarily resurrected to mourn V2's death. Where are the complaints? Where is the drama?
