the way to become better
Hi, first of all, master the fundamentals first, don't worry about memorizing complex opening. Instead, focus on the core principles (control the center, castle early, etc.). The most important area for rapid improvement is tactical training: solve 10-15 puzzles every day, and focus on patterns (forks, pins, etc.). The "secret weapon" is the game analysis: many players play tons of games but never analyze them, that's why they are stuck ! After every game (win or lose), run it through the engine analysis, identify your blunders, ask yourself "What was I thinking when I made that move ?", and look for "missed tactics". Develop a weekly training plan: for instance, 10 min: tactical puzzles, 20-30 min: play one serious game (15|10 or longer time control), 10-15 min: analyze that game with an engine. In the weekend, review all your games from the week, and study one specific pattern. During games, always ask yourself: "What are my opponent's threats ?", "Is my piece safe after I move it ?", "Am I blundering into a tactic ?".

It's not for beginners, but since you're at about 600 ELO, it's excellent to know about for future reference. You'll get more value from it once you reach 800-1000 ELO. My recommendation for you is to focus on tactics and calculation first, these are most important for your level.
