I find it interesting the excuses people use to cover up their ignorance
pretty pic on chess.com = girl who probably smarter than you.
so act accordingly

I have never understood why anyone would post an avatar of a real person anyway if its not actually them ? Ofcourse I am not really a cat but I just assume that there is noone out there who might think I am. A guy who puts up an avatar of a pretty gal has "issues" if you ask me. I really dont get why people lie about their age in their profiles here ( and other places too ) either. The information about age is not required so just dont give it if you dont want people to know. Why lie ?! As for you pretty gals who complain about being "hit on" all you have to do is block the offenders OR dont let it be known that you are female. Problem solved.
Phew! I'm glad you're a real person Reb, I thought I kept losing to a talented cat!
p.s. I don't know what you are all so agitated about, there are no young women left on this site...I already sucked the life out of them ALL!
I think Reb (and others) raise a good point. Unless I have a good reason to do so, I will not interact with someone with a fake photo. We all know what a fake photo is and isn't; no need to play stupid here. But as for the birthday, I have to be a bit more lenient here. I posted my birth month & day, no year. Only later on did I find that the site had changed it on me, to something like December 12, with some year thrown in too (I can't recall what it was). So fake birthdays may not be the fault of the account holder.
I want to know who's hitting you? The "chic" (it's "chick" by the way ) in your pic is not "hot" in the least!
It seems to me that Reb hit the nail on the head on this issue.

That, plus I've seen a picture of you and the cat wins hands (or paws for that matter) down in the aesthetics section....
What I find ridiculous is that these guys are hitting on girls they will probably never meet, or talk too outside this website! That is just pathetic and sad,if these guys would bother to hit on girls face to face instead of on chess.com they might find better luck in nabbing a girlfriend. I guess it's easier on their ego if they get rejected online instead of up close and personal. C'mon guys... take a chance and put yourself out there in front of girls in your hometown, not here on chess.com! Besides it makes you look like a desperate loser when you hit on girls here, and most girls I know find desperate losers to be a major turn off. If your too shy to hit on women face to face, spare the rest of us who are here to play chess, and do it on a DATING WEBSITE.
Ah, the inevitable attempt at immasculation over the internet post. Yes, guys, get out there and hit on girls face to face so you can catch a harrassment charge instead of just get ignored on the internet. And with the level of hostility containted in the above post as your barometer, what could possibly go wrong if the girl decides she feels uncomfortable with your advances?
Here's a better idea, why don't you take this crock home and cook me some chili.
Why is it ok to look up chess people on a dating site but not ask if people are dating on a chess site? If you want to date a chess girl, GO WHERE THEY ARE! This includes chess sites. Duh! People get married off of MMOs and other on-line games, why not chess.com?
That doesn't excuse rudeness, but seriously, I've seen guys pull girls with catcalls. What one girl calls rude, another one calls bravado. Live and let live. And give the male ego pop-psychology "I watch the View" soapbox a rest.
Are you agreeing with boots9548 that people who hit on others here are pathetic and sad? If a person is too afraid to do it in real life, then they shouldn't do it here. Also, if people get harassment charges for doing something, then shouldn't it tell them they're doing something wrong? Sure, maybe catcalls work and it gets the girl, but sometimes theft works too and someone gets a stolen item. It's still wrong.
As far as finding a chess player on a dating site, that's just a bonus. It's like playing chess here and a little magic happens and two people begin to date. It happens, but it isn't forced. Just like it is wrong to try and get people to play chess on a dating site when all they want to do is find a date.
Although the person that started this thread probably intended to create debate, this issue does need to be addressed.
When I was in grad school, I was attracted to a woman in one of my classes. So I whipped up a home made "will you be my valentine" card with various options on it (including "no thanks"), and gave it to her with some chocolate. She returned it with one of the "yes" options checked. The next day after class I asked her out for dinner. She threatened me with a sexual harrasment charge.
So, please enlighten me. What did I do wrong?

I am sorry that you had to go through something like that, and I hope that your question was a rhetorical one. Clearly, you are not the one with the issue.
To simply ask a girl on a date is not sexual harassment and she'd have no leg to stand on in a court of law unless you were stalking her.
My wife asked if I wanted to push wood. I went and got the chess set.
Much safer and less exhausting.
To all those who think posting a pic of things like cats, dogs, unicorns, and so forth is different from posting pics of real people that are not them you should look closer at the pic. the pic of the one who started this is actually one of those deal or no deal chics. and if you get offended ur just wimpy losers anyway and need to stop licking computer screens.

Based on what you wrote, you didn't do anything wrong. I doubt that charge would hold up if she tried to press charges.
"So, please enlighten me. What did I do wrong?"
Homemade choccies to go with the homemade card? I would call the Police, too.

I think you'll find that the OP is the one who got offended. Maybe you should take a closer look at the subject of the thread before trying to be clever?
I'm glad this question was finally posted!!!!! Many were afraid to bring it up!!! Ladies this is not "girls gone wild" A good rule of thumb is just don't post provocative photos of yourself real or fake, on your home page!!! Thank you administrators for allowing this question to stay on, so others can say what needs to be said to the lady players!!!!
