This Paying Customer NOT gonna take it anymore!!

Like every chess player here on chess.com I have been frustrated by the dismal service over the last few weeks. I have tried to be patient BUT today I lost that patience and goodwill I once had for Chess.com. When I got the "servers start in 32 minutes" it was over for me. I have been a paying customer for some years but will become a freeloader when my $ubscription runs out in 19 days. I will cancel my Diamond subscription BEFORE then.  Chess.com has NOT reached out to me as a paying customer to give me credit for the weeks of frustration I have PAID $$$ for.  Other than the lame excuses I have read on the Forums, Chess.com does NOT appear to value me as a paying customer. As a "soon to become" chess.com freeloader and Lichess player, at least my frustration on Chess.com will NOT be paid with my hard earned $$$!!!

Play on the app. It never shuts down. The only downside is that you cannot play variants. I repeat. It NEVER. SHUTS. DOWN.

It is very unfortunate.  I read the blog post from Erik last week and I know it was sincere.  They are doing everything they can to rectify the situation.

I have been encouraged by several things recently:

  • They were able to hold a successful Titled Tuesday yesterday.  They were risking a situation where they could have fallen flat on their face again in front of people with the power to make their opinions widely known. (Strreamers)
  • I was able to play live games successfully without interruption yesterday.
  • I hear hints that things will soon get better.

I am sure they appreciate your patience.

"It Never Shuts Down" should be the Truth for all paying customers, not just those using the chess.com app.  I do not like the iphone chess.com app and only use it when sitting in a car waiting for the wife to finish shopping. happy FWIW the iphone app lacks MANY features that the desktop has.   Also I REFUSE to jump thru hoops to get a service I PAY for to give me adequate service for my money.

FWIW I can play chess  online from MANY services and only have $ubscribed to chess.com for its many helpful and useful features.

Why don’t you SHUT UP

Whiny little toad, who gives a flying 5hit what you think.

Chess.com "should" be concerned about the opinions of PAYING customers. The freeloaders like you should not be their concern as freeloaders are dime a dozen whereas the chess players who give them $$$ and support their efforts but are dismayed by the recent Debacle "should" have chess.com concerned.  I am hardly the only paying customer fed up with them and thinking about not supporting them with $$$ in the future........

I plan on continuing playing on chess.com as a "soon to be freeloader". No need to whine if you don't have $$ in the game LMAO....

Nobody gives a s*** about you. This is true— but what’s also true, is nobody ever did give a s*** about you in the first place. Chess.com’s affinity toward you goes no further than your ability to pay for a membership. Freeloading? Suck a d**k.
Shouldn’t you be on the back nine or something?

Go become a Lichess patron.

This is definitely an option I am pondering. I do believe in $upporting website efforts that are of value to me.  Right now, Chess.com has NO value to me, just frustration which I refuse to pay for.

Wrong. the app sucks too

When there are bandwidth issues the first two options I think of are to increase the bandwidth and reduce the load.  They already said they are adding more servers.  As far as reducing the load goes, I've seen a reduction in what shows up when loading things when first logging in: I no longer automatically see the teasers for the news stories, the current daily games need to be expanded to be visible; going into the forums does not show the most recent three threads in each subset; etc.

With chess.com adding new resources, and narrowing the focus of the existing resources, they are taking steps to reduce the problems (I still had one page that didn't load on the first attempt this morning but that is significantly better than before).

This is quite relatable. I'm a diamond member myself and been facing the server issues since a couple of weeks. They should compensate us by extending the current membership by 6 months at least as a token of appreciation for paying members..

They should..hold on, sorry—

As I was saying, they should do something about..wait, sorry hold on—

If I say I do not understand your frustration, then I would be lying, I have lost games to 502 errors.

However, chess.com didn't expect the kind of chess growth they got in a matter of  few weeks and it caught them somehow off guard.

Sorry for the inconveniences, the site is working hard to fix the problem and they will come back strong. Just be patient.

dude what

I want all you posters to go to your window......open it.....stick your head out and scream.... evil

LazySenior

SCREAMING ain't gonna do it for me.

The only things that will make me feel better is:

1. An honest apology from chess.com along with a couple month extension of my Diamond membership.

2. My cancellation of Diamond membership in 18 days depriving chess.com of my hard earned $$$.

3. Becoming a chess.com FREELOADER and not deserving the privilege of whining about something that is FREE...

so why pay all that extra for diamond?

  • EXACTLY. This is what I have been asking myself since the chess.com debacle started. Why pay extra $$$ for the Chess.com Diamond Premium Service which is NOT being provided and has been a frustration.? Fortunately for me,  my Diamond Sub ends on Feb 20 and will be cancelled. I won't have to whine much longer..... happyhappy

I use Chess.com strictly on the app since I currently have no computer. While the app is always there, it does have limitations, and when the servers are overloaded, parts of the app are unavailable: the forums, the puzzle results/history, sometimes the puzzles themselves, and I think a few other things I can't recall right now. Also, as mentionexcept 960. Many aspects of the social media are not available (such as cheers and up/down voting andd above, no variants are available e alerts). So, suggesting just use the app, it never goes down, is not workable for some people.
