What's not a joke is the inefficiency of the new UI. I know, wonderful transition.

Now that I think about it, why was there just a random carton of milk in the thread.

To get back on topic, we have to learn what their reasoning behind re-formatting the buttons and UI to understand if it’s “ineffecient”.

I can't understand it. Nobody likes the messages and regular alerts grouped, and the Today button was used reasonably frequently and made it easier to access news. 

I guess the Home button was something we took for granted, and were apathetic about it until that feature was removed, and although the new design is cool, (although it takes some getting used to) the UI is less effective now, and I think the design shod be kept while reverting the old format to make the UI more functional.

You'll see why I'm bothered when it's released to non-Beta members.

They also have an area called social, where instead of going directly to the forums from the UI, you have a choice between forums, clubs, blogs, etc. This makes perfect sense in theory, but I use forums most of all so it's mildly annoying.
