I think thats a great idea exegesis. Erik instead of having a seperate area for live chess, couldnt you just have time controls like these or is it not possible for some reason?

with those time controls, players would not really be able to leave their computer, and doing so thus defeats the purpose of "turn based" or "correspondence" chess. If we had no plans for a live chess feature, then we would consider adding these time controls, but those types of games are best played on our live chess feature, which is days/weeks away!
yes...obviously. But what I was wondering if there was a reason the live feature couldnt just be part of the turn based?

It mainly has to do with technology. One uses server pushes and pulls, the other uses only polling. Playing real time games with the current turn based technology would feel quite cumbersome.

Real time chess.On 5,10,15,30 min,1 hour,1:30, and 2 hours.
May I suggest that chess.com modify the timed game feature to include games in 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, etc.?
