trapped in 800 Elo hell

"trapped in 800 Elo hell" - this is not hell, just some numbers in the Internet you care too much about

There has been some rating deflation apparently in recent years, perhaps that's part of your issue? Can't say it's affected me, but the player pool at advanced level is less subject to the influxes of lots of people.

Interesting, before this I heard the same about rating inflation

Learn exactly how to think in the opening, middlegame and endgame — this is what I teach.
Always blunder-check your moves.
Solve tactics in the right way.
Analyze your games.
Study games of strong players.
Learn how to be more psychologically resilient.
Work on your time management skills.
Get a coach if you can.

why are you worrying about Elo? its a bit like stressing over your Monopoly net worth or obsessing over your high score in Minesweeper, to be honest no one cares what it is. Just have fun and let your blunders be beautiful.
Now here's Tom with the weather.
"Thank you. So, as you can see, over here it's yellow while over there it's purple."

Yup, that’s me. Statistically significant and emotionally unbothered, My rating may be average? but at least my delusion is grandmaster level

I think people can care about their ELO if it motivates them, but they shouldn't make it their identity. Don't let it control you.
Your completely correct in noticing the disparity between elo here. I been trying to point it out for awhile here. 800 plays at about 1000 and as you go up every 100 elo added will increase your opponents skill by 300 elo, so 1000 is really 1300 skill here, and in the blitz community here its very apparent.

Have you read any of the posts of people raging about their puzzle ratings dropping? ;D

OP's initial post is a banger, he should get an ELO boost just for how he initially expressed himself.
To the OP: when returning to chess after a long hiatus, often the consistency of one's play is lacking---2150 one game,750 the next. With a little review and structured practice things iron-out after a bit. It's difficult to find a competitive activity that one can take a break from, and upon returning, have the same level of performance one had while active.
