Trash Americans?

Sort:
Jetsurgeon

Among the many rude and childish post game messages I see on this site, I have noticed a new trend of people who leave messages insulting Americans specifically.   Are people really able to post this sort of trash with no repercussions?  I think it detracts from an otherwise fun chess site.

Kpop4Life

people trash anyone. yes it's not great and it does make this site distasteful but in my experience you can't tell others what to do

Jetsurgeon

so Kpop4Life is for having no rules of conduct because we "can't tell others what to do".   I don't agree.

Um... no. That's not what (s)he said at all. When you're raising the issue of people trashing Americans (and I understand that this may be concerning for many people), it's probably not a good idea to trash one particular American yourself.

Ok, maybe that's putting it a bit harshly. The point is simply that I'm not getting anything about having no rules of conduct from what Kpop4Life said. Maybe s/he does believe that, and maybe not, but based on what was stated that's not something that you can conclude.

Not to get into politics, but sometimes we deserve it.

Anyway, thanks for your concern, Jetsurgeon.

I'm fine with not censoring people, though.  "Sticks and stones,..."

We can take it.

This is the Internet. Anyone can choose any country's flag here. So how do we know if it's not just a non-American acting like a jerk to give a bad name to Americans while hiding under an American flag?

Pulpofeira

A true American acting like a jerk wouldn't give a bad name to anyone but himself anyway.

Its sad but trash talk is bad for one. I am here to play chess and become a better player, I ignore the jerks. grin.png

Well, XoJlo4eLI_N_Bo4Ka (if that's even your real name), that's an interesting point you bring up.  I had never considered that.  So, are you telling me that people are sometimes untruthful?  I don't believe it.

YOU'RE the one who's not real, man!

So many keyboard commandos talking tough while hiding behind a screen and letting the text on that screen get the best of them. Life is too short for such trivial pettiness.

Unfortunately names are given by the masses and the masses aren't very discerning

Americans are so diverse that we have the whole range of people from every race, creed, color, religion ,nationality, you name it we got it. That means we have lots of jerks lots of meek and modest people. We have really smart people and lots of dumb people. So people cannot characterize Americans as any one trait or personality type.
thegreat_patzer

well lets see...

you can go as far as the TOS says you can.  so a "personal attack" is over the line

for any reason really

but you'll have to wait for the abuse ticket to clear.  such is life.

I'm reconciled myself to the idea that my government won't be universally popular when its lobbing bombs at people.

just remember we aren't even allowed to talk about politics here.... there's no stopping our fearless leader.

Don't let it bother you. There's only two types of people, Americans and those who have benefited from America.

Yes, losing Cuba and the Philippines was great benefit to us, it made us to wake up of a long and stupid dream.
