If the accounts are linked together, it should be technically no problem to prevent them to play against each other.
Multiple accounts now allowed

I have complete faith in the site's programmers. They never make mistakes and always promptly fix bugs...
;-)

There's no way Chess.com is gonna allow me to have 2 accounts. They can't deal with my crazyness with 1 account.

I've been using 2 accounts for a little while now, since they consider me a 'near-titled' player,
lol, what?
It's not like you're hiding OTB prep. I don't see the point.
They've proven themselves utterly incompetent at stopping multi-accounting even when it wasn't allowed.
Yeah, I was guessing that was a big motivation behind this rule change... if you can't enforce it, then don't make it illegal.

Yeah, of course not, but if chess.com considers me near-titled and allows another account, I wasn't going to argue with them . The second account allows me to play for fun, and try various things in rated games without risking my real ratings, which seems to be basically the reason they are now available for everyone.

Makes sense, but then why change it to give 2 accounts the option of posting in the same thread/club? Seems to just create loads more work for the site + more potential abuse. Especially when the system they've been using for years seems like such an easy solution (alt accounts muted and taken off leaderboards).

Hm, I see that it is not allowed to use the second account as a speedrun account. The point is probably to not mess up rating by having 2 000 rated people starting from 400, but I feel that many people will use their second account exactly like this regardless. And besides, unless everyone starts using 2 accounts now, rating could be messed up a bit compared to what is now.
I understand that some people who play OTB, wish to play their opening repertoire without showing it to their future opponents, but I am not really sure this is a good thing as a whole.
By the way, there is still a difference between not being able to stop it and allowing it entirely, AKA encouraging it. It will surely be many more people with 2 accounts now.
Why would you need two accounts?
It's explained in the article. Why wouldn't you read?
Why would you need two accounts?
Exactly, you can't get much done with only two accounts!
Just like single pair of socks would never do. There's so much material to choose from. Cotton, nylon, wool, satin ...

But you only wear one pair of socks, at a time.

Not when winter is coming ...
And you're a loonie smoking the strong stuff in the local sanatorium ✌️🤪 (sic)
*snip* There's 0 chance chess.com will police this sort of thing, either. They've proven themselves utterly incompetent at stopping multi-accounting even when it wasn't allowed.
they need to heed the blockhead's counsel
