I do agree that there are some moderators here who get quite easily butthurt.

Once my comment got deleted because I said "F*ck, I horribly blundered, gg". They should loosen up or get their mod priveleges removed.

Yes, because when you don't follow the rules, it's always the mods fault.

Also, what game?  You haven't played any.

You clearly miss the point. Since when is the f word such a horrible offense it breaks forum rules and thus remove worthy? I have yet to meet a forum besides this one who does that.

The same holds for the OP. Muted because of saying "x sucks". Do you really think that is remove worthy, or heck, even a mute for 60 minutes?

About your second question, I was talking about my old removed account. I am currently refraining from playing online chess.

As far as I know, you're not allowed to swear except in off-topic.  As for the OP, I'll agree the mods' disgression is subpar, but the admins made them mods, not us.

the mods are human too you know, we all have our good and bad days.

It's quite normal for a moderator to completely misinterpret what you say. Some people find it difficult to differentiate between an "s" sound and "f" sound, even when typed.

You can start a thread on Bobby Fischer and it can run for thousands of posts full of insults and cussing, because the site seems to be anti-bobby, but you won't get away with rubbishing a sports team with one word.

is there a misconception that moderators moderate in moderation when intoxicated ?

if you keep thinking you are bumping into argumentative people, it's time you had a good long look inside for the cause of that. unless dr. Pill has anything to add.

You are chatting on a moderated forum, that is a fact

if they want to "moderate"  based on their person opinion they should close the forum from others, only allow mod's to post... or, open a private group where they can rule with supreme control.

Sorry, I cannot agree with poor choice with language.

We are typing here... its not "a slip of the tongue"... you have time to "self-censor" your impules and not use commonly unexceptable language.  This is an adult website, however, tnere is no need to talk like you had a few too many at the bar.

I said in chat on chess.com/tv that the celtics suck, which is simply an opinion and my comment was removed I believe by adamredsox. Then I said the mod was being abusive and I was muted for 60 minutes. I do not think that is fair at all.. My comment shouldnt be removed in the first place, the mod said I was being mean(adamredsox) but I didnt say anything mean I just spoke my opinion.

It really is a big thing to just mute somebody for 1 hour. Im also a diamond member and it simply is not fair in the first place to use your power in that way..

The day after the Waco shootings, it was wise to discourage your gang- related comments.

I AGREE!

in my case, i would have been happy with a private email... before or after... did not even get that.  Even after asking why, I asked why in private first, no response, so i then asked in public forum.

and by the way... it is in the rules:
"moderators may delete posts, or edit to remove offensive material and include an explanation"

Chess.com isn't an adult website, it's a website for all ages so many moderation decisions (like removing profanity) are made based on the face that someone of any age could run across it.

I am corrected, thanks.

I was thinking about chesskid dot com... but now that you mention it,  I think that is pre-teen... meaning we have young adults here too.

they should run filter/edit the unacceptable language.

even in the case of poor language choice I think deleting something is overkill.

Repeat offenders should get a just warning, only if they do not take heed, then punish.

Even though chesskid.com is meant for kids, there is no age restriction on this site, so there are some very young kids on this site too.

does this mean that there's no profanity on the threads currently standing ?

I'm sure you might find some.  I for one have not seen any, with the exception of this thread.

I have seen the use of unacceptable images... and the moderator was quick to remove that.  I understand and agree with removing/deleting images.  Text can be edited, deleteing the entire post for one word is overkill.

Yeah, we're only human so we're bound to miss stuff.  If we do miss stuff then please message a moderator.  There's a thread somewhere where a lot of us introduce ourselves...

Here's the thread I was looking for! :D
