ive always despised the Vagrancy act ,
criminalizing those who were left to rot even though they had defeated Napoleon ,
demobbed the govt left them with no support , instead they got treat with disdain and laws where passed to make them criminals instead of what they were , heroes
and still 200+ years later the same thing , a large proportion of homeless are ex service personnel ,
they put their lives on the line and this is the thanks they get
Honestly I prefer the existence of vagrants or beggars on streets. As for muggers, bag snatchers and pickpockets, punish them Yakuza style.
the consensus on basic needs in maslow's hierarchy seems to have changed recently
Hahahaha... That is funny.
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/ampp3d/housing-crisis-10-empty-homes-5008151
its as simple as that , (solving homelessness ) and all it takes is a law to be passed , that states no home to be empty whilst it is needed for human habitation ,
me ive spent a third of my life sleeping rough , in hostels , b'n'bs , squatting , sofa surfing , met some really good people in the same boat
sometimes I get angry about how this unnecessary situation is allowed to continue , it should be a basic human right to have a home
Agree, to a point.
People will stop and play with a puppy but ignore somebody in rags...
Problem is, many just assume such people are on drug or alcohol...
Government provide animal shelter for homeless pets. Why can't they provide the same for homeless Voters?
Animal charity receive much more donation as well...
Don't think is practical to promise a home maybe... but should be a legal right to have shelter.
Must something to do with population. Lions are more protected, wildlife foundation get more donation. World Lion population less than 10000? Human population 10B.
whatever the reason (a housing crisis even a false one) is about supply and demand ,,, there is more supply than demand , this should mean housing costs are cheaper , but landlords keep these properties empty so there is less supply than the demand , this means housing costs more and they get rich of that
however if the housing wasn't empty , that would mean more income in rent , the tenant being one step closer to being back at work and paying taxes , I don't care whatever the party that does it , or its politics ,, but if they passed such a law they would be praised throughout the world
Also housing is investment & rental income, no longer just a residence/home. People who can afford to, get more just to sell it off to others who don't need it, or rent it out, raising prices and filling the pockets of conveyance lawyers/clerks and the govt for stamp. It's just the same property, only getting older, but changing hands, inflating and generating rental and conveyance fees. Puts it out of the reach of those who really need it. Let's privatize the air we breathe and see what happens.
already done bunny , Japans underground rail service (Tokyo) are vending machines where you can buy pure oxygen
also I saw recently a company offering air from mount Everest , Kilimanjaro , the Andes all at big money
so yes in some places the air is sold by private companies
Well that's "premium" air. You can still get free air. When all air is controlled then it will make a difference. Or when they decide to pollute free air to ensure you buy premium air.
that's a brilliant post bunny , bang on the mark , really like the hamlet quote
