I assume the old site is version 1?

And the now new site is version 2?

But what is version 3?

But why are both v1 and v2 active?

Why is not v1 closed?

No.  V1 died several years ago after V2 was introduced.  V3 is the current newest version and will totally supplant V2 in a few months.  Not all the bugs are out yet though and chess.com is hoping folks will voluntarily migrate to V3.  Less b#tching when they finally pull the plug.  Laughing

this seems like a fair question... and one i have pondered evr since joining a month ago    i dint receive a response when submitting the question to "CONTACT US" so i figured it was jst something we are suppose to know  (sometimes when people don't say something they are really saying something)  however, another member (thank u Martin_Stahl) gave me this link to V3 when i posted on the "General Chess Discussion" forum.  although it doesn't address the OP directly, it sheds some light on wats going on .... i think?

V1 died long ago. V2 is current site you see by default. V3 is new site (available at chess.com/switch). V2 will stay around until almost everyone prefers V3 and the bugs are gone! We are working hard on it every day!!

for anyone reading this thread that has not tried the new version?  i started using V3 a couple days ago and glad i did... it's easy.    i was reluctant to try it B'cuz i was soooo familiar with V2.   i guess i dint want to leave my comfort zone?   but V3 is even comfortabler (is that a word?)

I tried V3 last month and developed a terrible rash that only just started to fade.
