Oh..."like school"?..... THAT cant be good.... lol...(clms_chess >>> teacher).
Way...too many games!

i have a similar problem and usually it just makes me play bad-er. i'm playing a girl with way too many games going on who simply just doesn't make her moves. i hate her. (not really)
i love everyone!

I have been a poor game manager. I normally plan to have on average 12 games. This isn't too demanding, and I like playing chess stress free. However I am in 3 tournaments and two of them are within a couple of games from starting the next round. I then widdled my games down to where I had three or four games left, anticipating 18 new games. But the games in the tournament have been going on for weeks, leaving me waiting. I now have completed two games in the last 3 weeks because of it.
It's tough to manage. Tournament games can really sneak up on you if your not carefull.

ilikeflags.... i know exactly what your saying. There is always it seems those couple of games that just.......go.............on.....for............eva.... sigh. And when you check that opponents # of games.... 432. ...lol.
socket2me.... you poorly manage? My first and only tourny that I managed in which14 of my student players played in... had a group size of...14. They had to play 2 gamed per opponent.... equals...BAM.... 26 games added to their list.
They were not happy.

I keep anywhere from 10-20 games, after that I start to spend too much time on chess.com and begin to get dirty looks from my co-workers...

I seem to be gradually accumulating games since i started. The problemt that I am having is that people take different amounts of time to respond, so I start jonesing for a game, and start another one. So far I have 7 in progress, though only 3 seem to be active at any given time.
"Too many" doesn't seem to be a factor of number alone, but of how active your games actually are and how much time you and your opponents have to commit to the game.

i tend to build my games up too if i play people who move really slowly. i want to play... my desire to play is my downfall sometimes.

I used to stay near 70-85, but now I'm comfortable with the 20-30 that I have. It gives me more time to focus on certain moves.

I usually play 30-60 games but I've seen players with 1000+ games played at the same time...inhuman.

ANIKO had 1000+ games...her stats show it clearly:
Total Games: | 6149 |
Won: | 1766 (29%) |
Lost: | 4346 (71%) |
Drawn: | 37 (1%) |

AWARDCHESS comes to mind.....though he is down under a 100 now
AWARDCHESS is ramping up. Currently at 231 games in progress. Where it stops nobody knows.
All Games
Total Games: | 6355 |
In Progress: | 231 |
Timeouts: | 2 (0%) |
Time/Move: | 2 hrs 54 mins |

there is someone with almost 4000 games going

I think the most I had on the go was 40-50 games but theres one guy who ive played twice and the first game took about 8 mths to finish even tho he stood no chance from the 4th month and the second game is currently on-going since March or April. This guy has 100 games on the go and he only plays one move every 3 days. He rarely plays 2 moves in the 3 day period. I need to ask a question please? How long can a player go on vacation mode? I have a game at the moment where a player is on vacation and its been months since he moved. I mean theres no excuse when the internet is available in every corner of the world. Yes take a week or two but there seems to be no limit(or is there?)
Alright... how many suffer from too many games (raises hand)? Im at around 60, and for my work load... 60 is killing me. I usually juggle about 30 or less. Too many matches joined..too many challenges accepted... my chess has a cold.
So how many do you have going on and what for you is too many?
