winerkleiner  3)...they have the best chess site online.

Agreed. Smile

TheGrobe

Bishops are better than Knights, except when they're not.

TheGrobe

Fischer is better than Kasparov, except to those who disagree.

kco

Does the newbees really need to know that ?

trysts

Oh, sure, I mean we could expect them to read through the forums and find out themselves, or even start their own threads to pose the questions, but isn't it better that they just read it here and be done with it?

Good points there. I wonder would the staff stick this thread so the newbees can read it, if it turn out to be good ?

kco

Another great person you will come across is kohai, she is the moderator for live chess, she trained the moderators and keep them under her wings. Please again do not post or message to report abuse or techinal stuff to her. See bottom of page "Help and Support."  She does read the live chess thread as well as the help and support thread.

I'd send some pictures, but I'm a little under the weather right now.  I had to evacuate earlier tonight, every river in the area is at flood stage and are likely to crest at record levels tonight; another 3-4 inches or more expected.  I'm high and dry playing chess at a friends house, if you know what I mean.  Hey Texas, I'll trade you some desert for some flood.

dashkee94

trysts,

'cause you asked and it's the best I can do right now.

Noob here... Is it rude to disable chat completely? I have recorded ~1300 games on this site since my recent membership and played some rude people during my first few days and have since blocked my chat.

kco

No is not rude to disable chat. Others might get the wrong message though. I understand that you want to focus on the game and you don't feel like chatting that is fine.
