What to do with users who ARE rude.

My point wasn't to belittle your umbrage at the behavior of certain people, but rather to assert that there's no inherent connection between what happens in a game and following the rules of the forums.  Enforcing the rules of the forums doesn't display inconsistency at chess.com.  Forums are easily monitored by those moderators who only deal with the forums. What happens elsewhere on this site is handled differently and by others staff members.  The usual way to handle behavior problems is to report it via a ticket- https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/emails/new .

I doubt any automatic language filter (however effective that might be, I have no idea) will be forthcoming soon as all the programmers seem focused on v3.

It's you who are complaining about rudeness?!

Someone whats a cookie and a teddy bear.

Just block them and that´s it... stop crying like a baby.

Block me if you want as well.

Ugh, OP is loose again. :/

America_de_Cali

Crying has nothing to do with it. Just seems logical. If someone throws insults around him to everyone he's chatting with, why ask the 100 or 1000 people they come across to block him? Isn't it easier to just filter out the language or report the person responsible. Restrict 1 user instead of asking everyone around him to block him.

Weak troll is weak.

People who are rude take the joy out of chess and this web site.

That is a pity, and something should be done about it.

Why is it that one has to ignore and accept rude comments from a certain kind of players?

For example a comment like this:

"the stupidest PIayer on chess.com"

by ... 20 hours ago

Pulpofeira

Hey, that's me!

I have an idea. Every player that posts "coward" "runner" "cheater" or anyone that whines about a player beating them/not playing 50 games with them should get a warning in their inbox and forces them to apologize to said player. If they don't comply, then suspend their account temporarily, and if they come back and still act the same way, ban them. Otherwise people don't learn how to not be sore losers. I usually only play one game with a person at a time. Don't like it? Keep it to yourself..

chess.com don't seem to care too much about rudeness and the like for whatever reason.  Quite why there isn't a 'report' option for notes or other posts I don't know - I guess they can't be bothered checking loads of reports to delete people.

Rudeness never "offends" me cos I know the internet is full of morons, I'm just sadistic and want to see someone who posts appalling stuff get what they deserve - i.e. a deleted account so I can be self-satisfied and laugh!

glamdring27

Yeah, but at least they lose all their games, ratings etc and I'm sure some could be IP-blocked which would at least trouble some even if not others.

Pulpofeira

I wouldn't mind losing most of my stats...

Cool    There are several non-staff moderators who monitor the forums and delete 'spam' comments and a good example of this is the comments section of the daily puzzle. Any issues that have been missed can be raised by contacting the support staff, if you deem it necessary !

glamdring27

The forums are irrelevant generally, it's cretins posting on my notes page I'd like to wave Ciao Ciao to.  Obviously I block them, but it doesn't have the same satisfaction level as seeing their account deleted!

briansladovich

Cool    Dilemma !

Seriously though, certain individuals were posting explicit pornographic pictures or taking up full pages with nonsense comments, rendering any sensible discussion very difficult. (daily puzzle)

Yes well I really don't think it would be that hard to improve the environment on here. Just filtering foul language. And if they don't have a big enough staff to check on all the reports of abuse, they could simply automatically throw out, ban IP or deduct 100 or 200 points from someone who get's let's say 5 reports on him. Sure they could create a new user but it's tiring in the end and finally more and more "people" would see that it isn't worth it.

I can get that it happens more in this place since people don't like to loose and they feel humiliated and the worst comes out of them, these people I maybe can forgive and even laugh about. But the guys that insult after winning should get banned. Teasing can be ok though you just have to know where to draw the line.

Explain this in more detail.

Additionally, you can always take screenshots, then send support a ticket.  I've done this and it did work.  Until then, just learn to ignore it.  Getting upset over it is not going to help you.

Oh yea, thanks for reminding me that insulting someone's opinion based on their rating is childish, similar to people being rude in chess games.
