Now that you're world champion are you going to block bean_Fischer? And if so, will you have to unblock him first?

Magnus, your game seems to be evolving towards playing solid positions and waiting for mistakes rather than just playing the strongest lines and winning by force.  Do you feel this is forced by what the game offers at the super-GM level, or is it just personal style?  Could you (or anyone at the 2700+ level) play a "best by test" style and still close in on 2900 rating?

P.S. This thread is for posting questions, not arguing, or making silly jokes.  You're just making Peter slog through more than he needs to, which is quite selfish and rude ;).

GM Susan Polgar said team Carlsen was single handedly only u. The team were only family, friends, and fans. Why do that. Got us surprised. Again cheers

When you are away from chess books and computer how do you think about chess? It must be a constant thought at the back of your mind, and how do you deal with it?

apostolis1

Do you prefer learning from a book or from a database ?

What are the best chess books you have ever read ? (Really interested to see the answer on this)

Now, what do I have to do with you? I talk back to Scotrf, not you. I also know Fischer is dead. But his dead has nothing to do with my question. Now, what's your problem with me? I don't even know you. But if you want me to block you, then I will.

First off, you obviously were responding to me. Why else would you have quoted what I typed in your response?

Secondly, it's not clear from your post that you did know that Fischer was dead. And if you did, then why didn't you clarify which Fischer you were talking about? The one who played the 'Game of the Century' when he was 13 years old? The 15-year old GM Fischer? The 29 year old World Chess Champion Fischer? The 49 year old Fischer who played Spassky in 1992? Or a Fischer from some other time period entirely? The Fischer of the 1950s was a completely different player from the one of the late '60s/early '70s and from the '90s and beyond, in case you weren't aware.

Thirdly, I have a low tolerance for stupidity in general, and I don't care much where it comes from. Nor do I believe that stupidity should be rewarded by affording it any kind of intellectual legitimacy. Had you specificed which Fischer you were talking about (since you claimed to have known that he's now dead), I still wouldn't have thought much about yours question, but at least it would have manifested some degree of thoughtfulness on your part.

Anyway, take care of yourself. I'm sure we'll "meet" again on the forums. But I do suggest you put some more thought into some of your ideas before posting them for the world to see.

apostolis1

What do you think helped you most to go from 1800 to 2800 ??

omarsaalihi

I hope If I am not wrong. It is in Asia that got GM(Dubai) and became youngest 2801+(Nanjing Pearl) and crowned CC(India). What will u do to improve chess in Africa like to initiate African Chess Prodigies into top class or possibly the best that we have seen thankS

Magnus, you're naturally asked chess questions every single day, concerning every topic from the Nadorf variation to endgame strategies, but I'd like to get a little insight into who you are as a person. I read you relaxed with watching football and basketball games after the tourneyment, but what else do you enjoy doing with your down time? What kind of music do you like listening to? What books have you read that are among your favorites?

apostolis1

For how much years do you think you can hold at the top, and who do you think will finally win your title ? Smile
