What's in a name?

Sort:
ipawnedmychessset

I came up with my name over 3 years ago, and have used it on other chess servers. I like to be creative with my names and this one just came to my mind. I thought of pawn as in chess piece and pawn as in pawn shop Cool if you don't want to say my whole name either call me: "ipawn", ipawned", or "ipmcs".

renhoek
My handle is an homage to the character Ren Hoek from the cartoon Ren & Stimpy. He's generally disagreeable, but kind-hearted and ambitious... and also the Keeper of the Cheese!
killGoose

Interesting observations! Names do have power.

I used to be called "Goose" in highschool ("silly goose"). KillGoose was my response in order to kill the nickname. I've had this user name for years.

books
books!
Locke
Mine was originally lifted from the Ender series of books, to give the impression that I was taking over the world or something. I thereafter found out that Locke was a famous philosopher, and that it was exceptionally pretentious to choose such a pseudonym. There ain't no posturing to be deciphered in my username.
Quaff
I wanted to try several chess sites using the same name so chose Quaff [pronounced kwoff - to drink something, especially alcohol - heartily].
Phil_from_Blayney

I have no idea how I got my handle :)

People often introduce me as "Phil from Blayney", so why not accept fate :)

Dozy
Actually, Phil, yours was one name I meant to mention in my introduction.  Overseas players won't know this but if you say "Phil from Blayney" to anybody at all on the Australian chess scene they will immediately know who you are talking about.  A lot of them won't know his last name, but they'll all know who he is.
Phil_from_Blayney
I wouldn't go that far :) Just unlucky enough to be big and ugly enough to be memorable to those that I do know :)
chessdadx3
Mine should be self explanatory, if not, note the pic!!
ccnp

I could tell you what mine means...But then I'd have to kill you.
