What's the main reason why you joined Chess.com?

I know that many people have their reasons for joining Chess.com. To play chess, make friends and join clubs, the lessons and chess courses Chess.com has to offer, its puzzles, and how popular it is. Most of the best and most famous chess players around the world even use it as well. But I want to know the main reason why Chess.com was started and how. I also want to know what caused so many people to join Chess.com and their reasons for joining.

@gary_sorkin My experience was similar to yours. I was strolling on the internet when I came across this website. Another reason I joined was because my friends also used Chess.com. However, I mainly joined the website to seek experience and knowledge on developing my growth in chess.

@Armyxraytech69 I know that some of my friends joined because of COVID-19, that's probably one major factor since real-life communication had to be shut down.
